Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyurethane foam having yellowing resistance and showing unimpaired resin strength in mold release and excellent moldability even when the amount of the water-containing blowing agent is increased by reacting an isocyanato-reactive compound with a polyisocyanate in the presence of a specified catalyst. SOLUTION: In reacting a compound having two or more isocyanato-reactive hydrogen atoms and having a molecular weight of 400-10,000 with a polyisocyanate in the presence of a catalyst and a blowing agent, 0.1-3.0 pts. wt. compound (e.g. a compound of formula II or III) represented by formula I (wherein R1 and R2 are each H or a 1-4 C alkyl) is used per 100 pts.wt. isocyanato-reactive compound to produce a polyurethane foam having density of 0.20-0.40g/cm and a tensile strength of 20kg/cm or above. The use of the above catalyst makes it possible to obtain a polyurethane foam having unimpaired strength by virtue of its excellent gelation reactivity in mold release and excellent moldability, having yellowing resistance, and being suited for especially soles even when the amount of the water as the blowing agent is increased to lower the density of the foam.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyurethane foam having excellent packing properties, heat insulating properties and low-temperature dimensional stability by using a specific polyol component and a fluorocarbon substitute as a blowing agent without utilizing a catalyst having strong irritating odor such as tertiary amine. CONSTITUTION:(A) A polyisocyanate compound, (B) a polyol component at least partially composed of a tertiary amino alcohol of the formula (R1 is 3-4C straight-chain alkylene, arylene, etc.; R2 is 1-9C straight-chain alkylene ; R3 and R4 are 1-4C straight-chain alkyl; (n) is average degree of polymerization and is 2-50) and (C) a blowing agent selected from chlorodifluoromethane, 1,1,1- trichlorodifluoroethane, 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane, 1,1,2,2,2-pentafluoroethane and 1,1-difluoroethane are used to give the objective product. The compound of the formula is preferably obtained by reacting a diol such as 1,3-butanediol with a primary amine such as methylamine in the presence of a catalyst consisting essentially of copper-noble metal.

CONSTITUTION:The objective rigid polyurethane foam is produced by reacting (A) a polyisocyanate component with (B) a polyol component containing one or more tertiary amino-alcohols expressed by the formula {R1 is 2-24C alkylene, alicyclic alkylene, cycloalkylene, arylene, aralkylene or (CH2CH2O)p-(CH2CH2)g [(p) is 0 or a positive number; (q) is a positive number]; R2 is 1-24C alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; (n) is a positive number of 1-50} as part or all thereof using a foaming agent.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition which can give a foam having mechanical strengths equivalent to those of conventional ester-derived flexible urethane foams and excellent resistance to wet-heat deterioration, alkali and acid by condensing an organic dibasic acid with a specified diol and a triol. CONSTITUTION:A polyester polyol composition of a hydroxyl value of 30-120 KOHmg/g is obtained by condensing an organic dibasic acid (e.g. malonic acid) with a diol and a triol, wherein the diol is one having at least one methyl group and a prim. hydroxyl group in the molecule. This composition can give a foam having mechanical strengths equivalent to those of conventional ester- derived urethane foams and excellent resistance to wet-heat deterioration, alkali and acid.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the title catalyst which is very lowly odorous, is highly active and does not migrate in the produced polyurethane, comprising a compound having a dimethylamino and hydroxyl groups in the molecule. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst for the production of polyurethane comprising a compound of the formula (wherein (n) is 4-8) [e.g. N,N-dimethyl-N',N'-di(hydroxybutyl)propanediamine]. This catalyst can be obtained, e.g. by reacting 1mol of dimethylaminopropylamine with 2mols of 6-chloro-1-hexanol, neutralizing the formed hydrochloric acid by timely adding NaOH, removing water from the reaction product, and filtering off salt. This catalyst has such a high boiling point that it is very lowly volatile and very lowly odorous, and is capable of improving working environments in a process for producing a polyurethane foam and has desirable activity as a catalyst for the production of polyurethane.

CONSTITUTION: This additive comprises an amide group-containing quaternary ammonium compound of formula I (X is CO-NR or NR -CO; Y is ClO4 or R -SO4 ; R is a 6-18C alkylene; R is a 1-6C alkylene; R , R ', R and R are each H or a 1-3C alkyl; R is a 1-3C alkyl) as essential component, preferably further (B) one or more selected from an alkali (alkaline earth) metal salt of perchloric acid, thiocyanic acid and nitric acid and (C) a quaternary ammonium compound of formula II (Y' is ClO4 or a R -SO4 ; R and R are each H or a 1-3C alkyl; R is a 1-3C alkyl; R is a 8-18C alkyl).
