Abstract: A mobile wireless telecommunications system includes base stations of a first type operating according to a first air interface, and base stations of a second type operating according to a second air interface. Methods and apparatus are provided for handing over a mobile station in the system from a first base station, which is of the first type, to a second base station, which is of the second type. A communications link is established over the first air interface between the mobile station and the first base station. Data are received from the mobile station responsive to a signal received by the mobile station over the second air interface from the second base station, substantially without breaking the communications link with the first base station. The mobile station is handed over form the first to the second base station responsive to the data received therefrom. In particular, a method of conducting intersystem handover from a multicarrier system to a direct spread system is provided. Timing synchronization is also advantageously made available through the mobile station.

Metoda pentrutransferul unei staţii mobile într-un sistem detelecomunicaţii radio mobil constă în: stabilirea unei prime legături de comunicaţie prin prima interfaţă radio, care este staţia mobilă, şi cea de-a doua staţie de bază; stabilirea unei a doua legături de comunicaţie prin cea de-a doua interfaţă radio, care este staţia mobilă, şi cea de-a doua staţie de bază; recepţionarea datelor la prima staţie de bază, datele cuprinzând o măsurătoare a intensităţii semnalului de la staţia mobilă, în principal, fără a întrerupe legătura de comunicaţii cu prima staţie debază; transferarea staţiei mobile de la prima la cea de-a doua staţie de bază, ca răspuns la datele recepţionate de la aceasta; transferarea informaţiei de temporizare. Sistemul de radiotelecomunicaţii utilizat conform invenţiei cuprinde: ostaţie de bază de un prim tip, care transmite şi recepţionează un prim semnal, conform cu o primă interfaţă radio; o staţie de bază de un al doilea tip, care transmite şi recepţionează un al doilea semnal, conform cu o a doua interfaţă radio; o staţie mobilă, ce recepţionează al doilea semnal prin a doua interfaţă radio, de lastaţia de bază de al doilea tip.

One embodiment comprises a method for performing position location in a wireless communication system using a set of signals transmitted from a set of satellites including the steps of receiving signal samples, rotating an acquisition code by a first rotation amount yielding a rotated acquisition code, despreading said signal samples using rotated acquisition code yielding despread data, accumulating said despread data over a first duration yielding partially accumulated data, rotating said partially accumulated data by a second rotation amount yielding rotated data and accumulating said rotated data.
