Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for wireless communication for improving handover between a network and a user equipment (UE) when a measurement report is received. Aspects of the methods and apparatus relate to determining the quality of a serving cell associated with a fast handover performance threshold. When the fast handover performance threshold is breached, the UE may transmit a measurement report requesting a handover to a target cell. Upon requesting a handover to a target cell when the fast handover performance threshold is breached, the UE receives a handover trigger allowing handover to a target cell.
Abstract:
A user equipment (UE) may improve scheduling of inter radio access technology (IRAT) measurement during continuous data transmission, for example in a High Speed-Physical Downlink Shared Channel (HS-PDSCH). The UE may determine whether an IRAT measurement is desired. The UE may also perform the IRAT measurement during a scheduled downlink data subframe when it is determined the IRAT measurement is desired, without losing the scheduled downlink data.
Abstract:
Techniques to detect for DTX frames in a 'primary' transmission that may be sent in a non-continuous manner using a 'secondary' transmission that is sent during periods of no transmission for the primary transmission. The primary and secondary transmissions may be the ones sent on the F-DCCH and Forward Power Control Subchannel, respectively, in an IS-2000 system. In one method, a determination is first made whether or not a frame received for the primary transmission in a particular frame interval is a good frame (e.g., based on CRC). If the received frame is not a good frame, then a determination is next made whether the received frame is a DTX frame or an erased frame based on a number of metrics determined for the primary and secondary transmissions. The metrics may include symbol error rate of the received frame, secondary transmission (e.g., PC bit) energy, and received frame energy.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for decreasing the probability of dropping a call during a hard handoff procedure in a wireless communication system (FIG. 1). The two primary functions of the candidature frequency (CF) search method and apparatus of the present invention are to detect the strong pilots (908-916) on a candidate frequency in the area of the mobile station and to maintain adequate service quality during the CF search (FIG. 8).
