Abstract: The present disclosure describes the generation of long sequences from short sequences to support concurrent transmissions of large numbers of machine-type communication devices operating in a wireless communication system. These long sequences may be assigned to devices so that the devices can use the long sequences scramble their transmissions. The use of such long sequences permits many machine-type communication devices to transmit during the same time and frequency resource.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may support dynamic clock switching within a transmission time interval (TTI) to allow for more efficient and flexible processing within the TTI. In particular, a user equipment (UE) may be configured to use multiple clock speeds for processing signals within a TTI, and the UE may determine a clock speed to use for processing data within a TTI based on control information received from a base station. For example, the UE may determine an amount of time available for processing data based on the control information received from the base station, and the UE may adjust its clock speed to finish processing the data in the determined amount of time.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a UE capability message, the UE capability message indicating a supported transmit antenna switching (TxAS) capability for each port of the UE. The UE may receive a configuration message indicating an uplink multiple-input/multiple-output (UL MIMO) configuration for the UE, the UL MIMO configuration being based at least in part on the UE capability message. The UE may identify, based at least in part on the configuration message, a sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration to use for transmitting SRSs in conjunction with the UL MIMO communications, the SRS configuration comprising a configuration for transmission by the UE of SRSs using at least one of the two or more ports of the UE, the SRSs transmitted on one or more antennas of the UE selected according to a TxAS configuration for the respective port.

A user equipment (UE) may determine an uplink multiple-input/multiple-output (UL MIMO) configuration for the UE, the UL MIMO configuration comprising the use of two or more ports of the UE for UL MIMO communications over two or more spatial layers. The UE may select, based at least in part on the UL MIMO configuration, a sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration to use for transmitting SRSs in conjunction with the UL MIMO communications, the SRS configuration comprising the UE transmitting SRSs using at least one of the two or more ports of the UE. The UE may transmit the SRSs in conjunction with the UL MIMO communications and according to the SRS configuration.

Abstract: A wireless device (e.g., a base station or user equipment (UE)) may encode a codeword using a polar code for transmission over a wireless channel. The device may identify a set of bit locations of the polar code for a set of information bits based on a bit index reliability sequence. The bit index reliability sequence may be based on applying an ordered combination of a universal partial order, an analytical method, and a simulation. The bit index reliability sequence may be determined based on a binary bit weighting for the set of bit channels that applies one or more weighting factors. In some cases, the device may store the bit index reliability sequence in a lookup table for encoding, decoding, or both. A device receiving the transmitted codeword may similarly utilize the bit index reliability sequence to decode the codeword and determine the transmitted information bits.

Abstract: Techniques are discussed herein identify transmission strategies and to communicate those identified transmission strategies in a transparent communication environment. In some examples, a user equipment (UE) may identify a new transmission strategy for a downlink channel different from a current transmission strategy for the down link channel. The UE may transmit a channel state information (CSI) message that includes an indication of the new transmission strategy identified by the UE. In some examples, a base station may identify the new transmission strategy for the downlink channel. The base station may transmit a codebook subset restriction (CSR) indicator that includes an indication of the new transmission strategy identified by the base station. In some examples, the UE may modify its feedback strategy based on the new transmission strategy.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide quasi-cyclic low-density parity-check (QC-LDPC) codes having pairwise orthogonality of adjacent rows of the corresponding base matrices, and a new decoder (e.g. layered decoder) that exploits the pairwise row orthogonality for flexible decoder scheduling without performance loss, for example by decoding sequentially row by row in the base matrix or by decoding the pairs of orthogonal rows in the base matrix at a time. An apparatus includes a receiver configured to receive a codeword in accordance with a radio technology across a wireless channel via one or more antenna elements situated proximal the receiver. The apparatus includes at least one processor coupled with a memory and comprising decoder circuitry configured to decode the codeword based on a QC-LDPC code to produce a set of information bits. The LDPC code is stored in the memory and defined by a base matrix having columns in which all adjacent rows are orthogonal in a last portion of the rows.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to communication systems, apparatus and methods which enable or support configuring timing advance in a radio access network. The method includes defining a timing advance configuration for a radio access network that employs a modulation scheme with scalable numerology, determining timing advance parameters consistent with the timing advance configuration for a user equipment (UE) that is in communication with the radio access network, and transmitting the timing advance parameters to the UE during an initial access procedure involving the UE or while the UE is in a connected state in the radio access network. The timing advance configuration may be defined to accommodate a numerology used by the radio access network.
