Abstract: An evacuated envelope has a rectangular display section and a gun section at one edge of the display section. The display section includes front and back walls which are generally rectangular, in closely spaced, parallel relation, and a plurality of spaced, parallel support walls between the front and back walls forming a plurality of parallel channels. The gun section extends across one end of the channels and includes therein gun structure which will direct electrons into the channels. In each of the channels is a beam guide which confines the electrons in a beam and guides the beam along the length of the channel. The beam guide also includes means for selectively deflecting the electron beam out of the guide at selective points along the guide so that beam will impinge upon a phosphor screen along the inner surface of the front wall. In each of the channels is a scanning deflector which deflects the path of the beam as it passes from the guide to the phosphor screen so that each of the beams will scan a portion of the phosphor screen.

Abstract: First processing means 202 converts a high-resolution, wide field of view image signal into a series of output signals, ranging in resolution from high resolution, L0, to low resolution, GN, representing the same field of view. These signals, except for GN, are further processed by second processing means 204-0 to 204-(N-1) to produce final output signals ranging in field of view from a low resolution image of the entire field of view, GN, to a highest resolution image of a selectably positionable smallest spatial sub-region of the entire field of view, L'0 (see Figure 5). The arrangement is such that each of the final output signals L'0-LN-1, GN comprises the same number of pixels. This eases subsequent computing requirements. The technique finds a use in foveated electronic cameras which may be used in surveillance or robotic systems.

Abstract: An electronic camera (100) with concentration of the resolving power by area (Fovea control) uses a space frequency spectral analyser (202) and a data reduction device (204-0, etc.), which works with moveable space windows, to convert an image which has high resolution and corresponds to a broad field of vision into a group of images which each contain a partial band of the spectrum. The resolution and field of vision of these partial band images range from a very low resolution image of the whole field of vision to a very high resolution image of a very small partial area, the position of which can be selected, of the whole field of vision. Such a camera is useful, for instance, in a surveillance camera system or robot system.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To efficiently and accurately obtain a complex signal by inserting a delay and forming information samples, simultaneously generated in each adder when signals, having time deviation in a signal group is transmitted thereby composing the composite signal in real time. CONSTITUTION: 1st input terminals of relay means 100-2 to 100-n are connected to the 1st output terminals of relay means 100-1 to (n-1) respectively. Then, sampling frequency clocks CL1 to CLn are applied to other input terminals, and other input terminals are corrected by correcting parts 345 to 349, via delays 340 to 344 and connected to adders ADD 359 to 363, respectively. For example, when a thirdly generated signal and a fourthly generated signal are combined and transmitted, it causes time deviation. Then, the 3rd signal precedented generated is delayed for a prescribed time by the delay 342 to form an information sample practically simultaneously generated in the adder 359. Thus, since the composite signal is composed only by a realtime processing, a complex signal is obtained. efficiently and accurately.

Abstract: The display device is of the kind having within an evacuated envelope at least one electron beam guide (30, 32) across one end of which extends a line cathode (42) which generates at least one electron beam directed into the guide for eventual deflection towards cathodoluminescent screen on a front wall of the envelope. A pair of parallel modulation electrodes (44a, 44b) for each beam is positioned with the cathode (42) between them. Each modulation electrode partially overlaps the associated electron beam guide to eliminate adverse effects of contour differences or misalignment of the edges (48) of these electrodes.
