    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain cosmetic cotton which has an excellent water absorptivity an water resistance an has stiffness and voluminous feel by incorporating polyester staple fibers and/or acrylic staple fibers at a specific ratio into the non- woven fabric of the cosmetic cotton consisting of an inside layer made of the non-woven fabric and an external material including the inside layer. SOLUTION: The cosmetic cotton used at the time of removing a user's makeup, etc., consists of the inside layer 1 made of the non-woven fabric an the exterior material 2 including the inside layer 1. In such a case, the polyester stapes fibers and/or the acrylic stapes fibers are incorporated at >=20wt.% into the non-woven fabric. The polyester stapes fibers are particularly preferably polyethylene terephthalate stapes fibers, for which the use of their copolymer and denatured matter is possible as well. Cotton is preferably incorporated into the non-woven fabric. The content of the cotton is recommended to be 5 to 80wt.% over the entire part of the nonwoven fabric. Further, the incorporation of binder stapes fibers, such as core and sheath type polyester stapes fibers and unstretched polyester yarn, into the non-woven fabric is possible as well.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject staple good in card passability, and capable of giving ultrafine fibers after splitted which are useful for synthetic fibers, base fabrics, wiping cloths etc., by complexing a polyamide with a specific polyester so as to be splittable or separable from each other by physical action. SOLUTION: This splittable conjugate fiber is composed of components A and B and so designed that the component A is divided by the component B into three or more. The component A(B) consists of a polyester, while the component B(A) a polyamide. The polyester, a kind of copolyester compatible somewhat with the polyamide, is prepared by copolymerizing 2-15wt.% of a 5-sodium sulfoisophthalate derivative with polyethylene terephthalate.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a polyester fiber which is useful for shirts and blouses because of its good moisture absorption and cool feeling by adding a sufficient amount of titanium oxide and giving its cross section a specific shape. CONSTITUTION: This polyester fiber is obtained from a polyester containing more than 1wt.% (preferably more than 2wt.%) of titanium oxide and having a melt viscosity of higher than 200 poise at 280 deg.C, and has a fiber cross section of 1.1-2.0 modification degree (A/B), which has 3 or more protrusions in the circumferential direction of the fiber cross section. The minimal interval between adjacent protrusions is 10-20 micron and the depth of incisions is 10-20 microns.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To accomplish the title treatment capable of giving polyesters causing no oligomer separation and good in thermal dimensional stability by bringing a polyester into contact with a supercritical fluid, etc., to reduce its oligomer content in a short time. CONSTITUTION:A polyester >=0.5 in intrinsic viscosity and >=0.1 in the molar ratio of the metal compound to the phosphorus compound (both of them contained in the polyester) (M/P) (in the form of chips, powder or formed product like film) is continuously brought into contact, using e.g. a pressure vessel, with a mixed fluid composed of (A) a supercritical fluid (pref. carbon dioxide) with a critical pressure of 1-500atm and critical temperature of -273 to 300 deg.C and (B) at least one of other fluid (e.g. chloroform) pref. with high affinity for the oligomers to be extracted which are virtually insoluble for said polyester, thus producing the objective polyester.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a polyester compsn. excellent in the slipperiness, surface uniformity, transparency, and abrasion resistance by adding a particulate crosslinked polymer in the form of a slurry in water and/or an org. compd. to a polyester on a vented molding machine. CONSTITUTION:The title polyester resin compsn. is produced on a vented molding machine by melt mixing a polyester comprising a dicarboxylic acid component mainly consisting of an arom. dicarboxylic acid (pref. terephthalic acid or dimethyl terephthalate) and a glycol component (pref. ethylene glycol) with a particulate crosslinked polymer which has a void content of 40-95% and a mean particle diameter of 0.01-5mum, comprises a copolymer of a monovinyl compd. (pref. styrene) with a crosslinker consisting of a compd. contg. two or more aliph. unsatd. bonds (pref. divinylbenzene), and is added to the polyester in an amt. of 0.001-20wt.% (based on the polyester) and in the form of a slurry in water and/or an org. compd. boiling at 200 deg.C or lower.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a polyester compsn. excellent in the slipperiness, surface uniformity, and abrasion resistance by adding an inorg. particulate material having a specified particle diameter in the form of a slurry in water and/or an org. compd. to a polyester on a vented molding machine. CONSTITUTION:A polyester (pref. polyethylene terephthalate) is mixed on a vented molding machine with an inorg. particulate material (pref. colloidal silica, titanium oxide, or calcium carbonate) having a mean particle diameter of 0.01-5mum, pref. 0.05-2mum, in an amt. of 0.0001-50wt.%, pref. 0.001-20wt.%, still pref. 0.01-10wt.% (based on the polyester), in the form of a slurry in water and/or an org. compd. (e.g. an alcohol or an ester) boiling at 200 deg.C or lower. Then the water and/or the org. compd. is removed by heating in a vacuum, and the polyester and the particulate material are melt mixed, thus producing easily the title polyester resin compsn. wherein the particulate material is homogeneously dispersed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a polyester composition capable of giving films of excellent transparency and slipperiness, containing crosslinked polystyrene granules having specific thermal decomposition temperature and other crosslinked polystyrene granules having each specific thermal decomposition temperature and porosity. CONSTITUTION:The objective polyester composition can be obtained by incorporating, prior to or during the polymerization for (A) a polyester constituted of a bifunctional acid component consisting mainly of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid (pref. terephthalic acid or dimethyl terephthalate) and a glycol component (pref. ethylene glycol), a total of 0.001-10wt.% of (B) crosslinked polystyrene granules >=380 deg.C in thermal decomposition temperature (esp. >=410 deg.C) and 0.01-5mum in mean size, and (C) other crosslinked polystyrene granules similar in both thermal decomposition temperature and mean size to those for the granules B, and 20-95 (pref. 30-80)% in porosity in the form of an ethylene glycol slurry.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the polyester composition containing an inorganic oxide mainly composed of a metal oxide capable of combining with silica and silica and having a specific porosity and especially having excellent balance of readily slipping properties and transparency. CONSTITUTION:(B) 0.01-10wt.%, preferably 0.02-2wt.% inorganic oxide mainly composed of a metal oxide (preferably titanium oxide or zirconium oxide) capable of combining with silica and silica and having 50-95%, preferably 55-80% porosity, 0.01-5mum, preferably 0.05-2mum average particle size and e.g., obtained by adding a mixed solvent of an organic silica compound and organic metal compound into an alkali solvent to deposit a primary particle, dispersing the primary particle into water to form a colloid particle and drying the resultant sol is added to (A) polyester consisting of bifunctional acid component mainly containing aromatic dicarboxylic acid and one or more kind of glycol component.
