    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject partially orientated undrawn yarn prominently developing an orientation controlling effect, having excellent process passage by adding a fixed amount of a specific diacetal compound to a polyester comprising an ethylene terephthalate as a main repeating unit and subjecting the mixture to melt spinning. SOLUTION: A polyester comprising an ethylene terephthalate as a main repeating unit is formulated with 0.05-0.6 wt.% based on the polestar of a diacetal compound of the formula (R1 and R2 are each H, a 1-4C alkyl, a 1-4C alkoxy, a halogen, nitro or amino; m and n are each 1-5; t is 0 or 1) such as dibenzylidenesorbitol. The obtained polyester composition is subjected to melt spinning at 3,000-6,000 m/minute take-off speed to give the objective polyester partially orientated undrawn yarn having 0.02-0.06 double refractive index.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain polyester fibers for reinforcing rubber which has excellent adhesion to rubber and high heat resistance by combining a polyester of less than specific amount of antimony metal with a specific diepoxy compound. CONSTITUTION:A polyethylene terephthalate containing less than 10ppm, particularly less than 5ppm of metallic antimony is combined with 0.005 to 10wt.%, particularly 0.1 to 3wt.% of a diepoxy compound of formula I (Ar is an aromatic group of 6 to 20 carbon atoms; n is 0 or an integer of 1 to 20), then melt-spun through an extruder type spinning machine and drawn at a specific ratio to give the polyester fibers of less than 25eq/ton of carboxyl terminals and less than 1.3wt.% of diethylene glycol content.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber having stiffness and tension, capable of dyeing at normal temperature, having excellent anti-pilling properties and having a specific modified cross-section, comprising polyester copolymerized of specific component and containing boric acid. CONSTITUTION:The aimed fiber is composed of polyester having 0.45-0.53 intrinsic viscosity containing >=0.3mol% boric acid to dicarboxylic acid component constructing polyester and copolymerized with 5-10wt.% polyethylene glycol having 600-4000 molecular weight to said polyester, and has modified cross-section having 1.3-4.5 diameter ratio of circumscribed circle to inscribed circle. Said fiber is suitably obtained from the above-mentioned polyester by using a Y-cross sectioned nozzle and spinning at 275 deg.C spinning temperature and at 500-2500m/min spinning speed.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester product excellent in molding workability and polymer color tone and useful for molding fiber, film, and bottle products by subjecting the products resulted from an esterification reaction with aromatic dicarboxylic acid and diol or the ester-forming derivatives thereof to polycondensation with an alkaline compound in the presence of aluminum compound as a catalyst. SOLUTION: This objective high molecular weight polyester is obtained by subjecting a low grade polymer [pref. poly(ethylene terephthalate)] resulted from esterification with aromatic dicarboxylic acid and diol to polycondensation with an alkaline compound (pref. such a compound as tetraethylammonium hydroxide containing 50 to 5,000 ppm of nitrogen based on the resultant polyester composition) in the presence of aluminum compound (pref. such a compound as aluminum hydroxide containing 5 to 500 ppm of aluminum atoms based on the resultant polyester compound) as a catalyst.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a polyester fiber for rubber reinforcement which is prepared by adding a fluorine atom-free thermoplastic resin to a polyester and reducing the content of metallic antimony to a specific amount or lower, shows high strength and excellent heat resistance and deterioration resistance in the rubber. CONSTITUTION: A fluorine-free thermoplastic polymer such as a polyolefin, polystyrene or polymethacrylate polymer is added to a polyester so that the content of the fluorine-free thermoplastic resin may be kept to 0.05-10wt.% and the content of metallic antimony is reduced to less than 10ppm, preferably 5ppm. A cyclic olefinic polymer is suitable as the fluorine-free thermoplastic resin and is a random copolymer of a cyclic olefin of formula I ((n), (q) are independently 0, 1; (m) is 0 or a positive integer; R -R , R and R are each independently H, Cl, Br, a hydrocarbon group) or formula II ((p) and (q) are independently 0, a positive integer; (m) and (n) are independently 0, 1, 2; R -R are independently H, Cl, Br, etc.) and an α-olefin of 2 or more carbon atoms.

CONSTITUTION:Polyethylene terephthalate is combined with 0.005 to 10wt.%, preferably 0.1 to 3wt.% of a di-epoxy compound of formula I (Ar is an aromatic group of 6 to 20 carbon atoms), then melt-spun through an extruder at a high speed. The undrawn yarn is drawn to give polyester fiber suitable for reinforcing rubber having less than 12% of the sum of the middle elongation and the dry heat shrinkage (177 deg.CX30 minutes), less than 25eq/ton of carboxyl groups and less than 1.3wt.% of diehylene glycol.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester fiber for reinforcing rubber containing a specific amount of a fluoropolymer and diethylene glycol, having a specific COOH amount and specific [intermediate elongation + dry heat shrinkage factor] and having good dimensional stability and heat resistance in rubber and capable of substituting for rayon. CONSTITUTION:Polyethylene terephthalate chips having 0.67 intrinsic viscosity are preliminarily dried at 160 deg.C for 5hr and then subjected to solid phase polymerization at 225 deg.C to afford solid phase polymerization chips having 1.02 intrinsic viscosity. The chips are blended with tetrafluoroethylene-ethylene random copolymer chips and the blend is spun using an extruder type spinning machine and treated at 85 deg.C drawing temperature and 240 deg.C heat treating temperature to provide the objective polyester fiber for rubber reinforcement. This polyester fiber contains 0.05-10wt.% fluoropolymer and has the following characteristics: [Intermediate elongation + dry heat shrinkage factor] (S) (%)

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a modified polyester fiber having excellent coloring properties and silky feeling, by treating a polyester fiber containing a specific amount of a thermoplastic resin incompatible with a polyester consisting of ethylene terephthalate therein with an alkali. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic resin (preferred example; ionomer resin) which is incompatible with a polyester having main recurring units consisting of ethylene terephthalate in an amount of 0.1-20pts.wt., preferably 0.5-15pts.wt. is added to 100pts.wt. above-mentioned polyester and the resultant polyester is melt spun to provide a polyester fiber. The obtained polyester fiber is then treated with a hot solution preferably containing sodium hydroxide to carry out weight reduction treatment within the range of 0.01-40wt.%. Thereby the surface of the afore-mentioned fiber is roughened. A silky polyester fiber having excellent coloring properties and dry feeling can be obtained by this method.
