CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal polyester (preferably one consisting of structural units shown by formula I, formula II, etc.) and a lactone compound (preferably epsilon-caprolactone) are fed to an extruder and continuously subjected to addition polymerization to give the objective polyester comprising a liquid crystal polyester unit and a polylactone unit.

CONSTITUTION:A coating composition for coated steel sheets is obtained by mixing a polyester-amide resin comprising 50-95wt.% polyester units formed from a glycol component comprising 20-80mol% ethylene glycol and 20-80mol% other glycols and a dibasic acid component comprising an aromatic dibasic acid and 5-50wt.% polyamide units formed from m-xylylenediamine and an aromatic dibasic acid and having a reduced viscosity (etasp/c) of 0.1-1.2dl/g as measured in o-dichlorobenzene/phenol (volume ratio 4/6) solvent in a concentration of 1.0wt.% with an amino resin.

The group R in the formula of the component (B) is selected from alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, aryloxyalkyl and aryloxy.

The pref. amts. of A, B, and C are each 0.01-3 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. polyoxymethylene homo- or copolymer resin.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To readily obtain an elastic polyester excellent in heat, weather resistance, etc., and suitable for automotive parts, etc., with high efficiency by feeding a crystalline aromatic polyester and lactone compound to a twin-screw extruder, etc., and continuously carrying out addition polymerization. CONSTITUTION:A crystalline aromatic polyester (preferably polybutylene terephthalate) and a lactone compound (preferably epsilon-caprolactone) are fed to an extruder (preferably a meshing type twin-screw extruder having screws rotating in the same direction) having two or more axles at preferably (98/2) to (30/7) weight ratio of the crystalline aromatic polyester/lactone compound and subjected to polyaddition reaction preferably at 215 to 250 deg.C for 3 to 20min to afford an elastic polyester. Furthermore, the tip of the extruder is preferably provided with a vent port, etc., to continuously remove the unreacted lactone compound in a vacuum.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To economically obtain the subject high quality polymer by carrying out addition polymerization of a crystalline aromatic polyester with a lactone compound in a continuous stirring mixer having plural platy paddles fixed to parallel and eccentric stirring shafts of the same diameter. CONSTITUTION:A crystalline aromatic polyester, such as polyethylene terephthalate, and a caprolactone, such as epsilon-caprolactone, are charged from a feed port 4 of a double-axle self-cleaning type mixer having platy paddles 2 of cross-section in the form of a convex lens, ellipse, etc., in which the paddles fixed to one stirring shaft 1 face to the paddles fixed to the other and rotate in a drum having a jacket 3 for regulating temperature with mutual clearances kept among the inner surface of the drum, tips of the paddles and the facing paddles and reacted at, e.g. 210 to 280 deg.C, to afford the objective polymer.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title polymer having excellent transparency and color tone at a short time using direct polymerization method by subjecting a raw material of polyester to esterification reaction in pressurized conditions, adding a phosphorus compound, zinc compound, organotin compound, etc., thereto and subjecting the blend to polycondensation. CONSTITUTION:(A) A dicarboxylic acid consisting essentially of terephthalic acid is subjected to esterification reaction with (B) a glycol consisting essentially of ethylene glycol in pressurized state without adding a catalyst. Then, before polymerization, (C) 0.001-0.1mol% phosphorus compound such as ortho-phosphoric acid, (D) 0.001-0.5mol% zinc compound, (E) 0.00005-0.1mol% manganese com pound, (F) 0.00001-0.05mol% cobalt compound such as carbonate salt thereof, (G) 0.0005-0.1mol% antimony compound such as antimony trioxide and (H) an organotin compound are added to the component A and the blend is polymer ized to provide the aimed polyester.

CONSTITUTION:Formaldehyde and/or trioxane (a) is copolymerized with another cyclic ether (b) in the presence of a polymerization catalyst (c), and a hindered amine compound (d) of the formula (wherein R is H or a 1-30C monovalent organic residue, R are each a 1-5C alkyl, n>=1, and R is an n-valent organic residue) [e.g., bis(1,2,2,6,6-pentamethyl-4-piperidinyl) sebacate] is optionally added to the reaction mixture to stop the polymerization reaction. 100pts.wt. obtained polyacetal resin is mixed with 0.01-5pts.wt. [2,2'-thiobis(phenolato)]-aliphatic amine nickel (II), e.g., [2,2'-thiobis(4-t-octylphenolato)]-n-butylamine nickel (II).
