Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use an electron gun having an insufficient number of stem pins for the conventional stem without increasing the number of the stem pins. SOLUTION: This cathode-ray tube is provided with an electron gun 16, a cathode, a heater H, and a stem having multiple stem pins for feeding the prescribed voltage to selected electrodes. The heater H is connected to a closed circuit containing the first power source 23 feeding the prescribed voltage between its terminals, the first electrode G1 is connected to the earth side of the closed circuit, and the second power source 24 feeding the prescribed voltage to the first electrode G1 is connected to the closed circuit while the voltage between the heater terminals is held by the first power source 23.

The earth connecting terminal part 3b of the resistor is connected with the earth terminal of a heater H.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a superior image characteristics by comprising a main electron lens part of the first and the second electron lenses in the second screen side, comprising the first electron lens from the first to the third electrodes in a position from the negative electrode side to a screen, and setting its electrode potential to a prescribed potential. CONSTITUTION: Electron beams 6 emitted from negative electrodes KB, KG, KR are focused a little by the negative electrodes KB-KR and grids G1 -G3 and are 1 incident on the first electron lens. The electron beams 6 are first irradiated in the perpendicular direction of a quadrupole lens component QL, receive such an action as strongly focusing in the horizontal direction, and the outer beam 6o emits more largely than the inner beam 6i . The beam 6o largely receives spherical aberration in a region of a next cylindrical electron lens component CL so as to be strongly focused by the beam 6i and is incident on the second electron lens L2 formed by grids G5 , G6 at small emission angle. Then, the beam 6 passes toward an isolated axis than the beam 6o , receives spherical aberration, and is focused on a phosphor screen 3. Beam 6o is also focused on the same position as the beam 6i . The electron beams 6 are horizontally focused on the screen 3 by passing an adjacent axis of the cylindrical lens component CL.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the beam spot diameter in the vertical direction to improve the image characteristic by providing an auxiliary electron lens part for focusing three electron beams, which are emitted by an electron gun and arranged in one line, in the direction crossing the arrangement direction. CONSTITUTION:Electrons from cathodes KB, KG, KR are focused in the vertical and the horizontal directions by a pre-focus lens PL, and enter an auxiliary electron lens part SLA. Electron beams 10B, 10G, 10R are focused in the vertical direction by a first auxiliary lens SL1, and dispersed in the vertical direction and focused in the horizontal direction by a second auxiliary lens SL2, and furthermore, focused in both the vertical and horizontal directions by a third auxiliary lens SL3. Beam spot diameter in the vertical direction of the electron beam, which are focused on a phosphor screen 3 by a main lens MLL, can be reduced to improve the image characteristic by adjusting the electron beam before it enters a main electron lens part MLA to reduce the virtual crossover diameter in the vertical direction.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To readily form an electron gun having a large aperture electron lens with high accuracy. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of electrodes forming both an electron-beam forming portion and a main electrode lens portion are integrally fixed by a pair of insulative support members 36 which are almost parallel and opposite to each other via support pieces. The main electron lens portion is formed by a first electrode comprising a large-diameter cylindrical portion 31 and a flat tube portion 32 having a maximum diameter portion being smaller in diameter than the cylindrical portion 31 and by a second electrode having a large-diameter cylindrical portion 33 surrounding the large-diameter cylindrical portion of the first electrode. The first electrode has a support piece 37 mounted on the long side face of the flat tube portion and in the second electrode support pieces 38 are formed in a pair of support plates 34 in such a manner as holding the support pieces of the first electrode from both sides. Each of the support plates is attached to the second electrode by at least three holddown pieces 35 comprising two holddown pieces each extending in the same direction as the support pieces and one holddown piece extending in the perpendicular direction to the two holddown pieces.

After passing an asymmetric lens having a strong vertical focusing effect formed by horizontally long electron beam passing holes of grids G3-G5, the electron beam entered to the grid G3 receives the focusing effect horizontally and diverging effect vertically by a quadrupole lens formed by grids G5, G6, and is focused and imaged on a phosphor screen both horizontally and vertically. The electron beam focused by a main electron lens part MLA consisting of such grids G3-G6 can be formed into an extremely small beam spot.

CONSTITUTION:In an electron gun, a resistor 30 extending from the side of a cathode K to the side surface of a convergence cup C is arranged along the back surface of one side insulating support 11. Furthermore, a linear metal member 13 is annularly attached to the third grid G3 just like hemming a pair of insulating support 11 and the resistor 30. The resistance pattern 33 of the resistor 30 is composed of a high resistance part 38 and a low resistance part 39 which is formed in a position facing the metal member 13. Even if the metal member 13 is heated by high frequency heating, the resistance value of the part facing the metal member 13 changes only a little, variation in a resistance division ratio can be made remarkably small, and the third and the fourth grids G3 and G4 can be provided with their set voltages, respectively.

Accordingly the lens intensity in verical direction of an electron lens formed for the central electron beam BG will be greater than the lens strengths in vertical direction of electron lens formed for the both side electron beams BR, BB. Even in the vertical direction, therefore, the central electron beam BG and both side electron beams BR, BB make convergence in good performance simultaneously. Thus a high grade image is obtained with high resolution both in the vertical and horizontal direction.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve a convergence characteristic of three electron beems by providing a cylindrical electron lens common to three electron beems on a main electron lens part while arranging two electrodes of a specific construction inside a focusing electrode of this electron lens. CONSTITUTION:An electro gun part of a color picture tube consists of a cathode K, a first grid to a sixth grid G1 to G6. Of these grids, a first electrode having three beam passage holes 15R, 15G, 15B is present on the side facing to the opening holes 14R, 14G, 14B of the grid G5, while on its opposite side, a second electrode having a horizontally long opening hole 16 which three beems go pass through is present being coaxially arranged inside the grid G6. According to such constitution, the first non-cylindrical lens and the second non-cylindrical electron lens having a large aperture are formed inside the same electric field region of the main electron lens, and both lenses are in the neighboring positions so that a deflection angle can be made extremely small. Accordingly, both side beams come to pass through near the center of the electron lens so as to properly focus and converge on a screen.
