Abstract: A pharmaceutical packaging comprising a silicone-free lubricating film of crosslinked organic molecules. The method for producing the pharmaceutical packaging comprises: applying a silicone-free organic fluid as a film on a surface of a hollow substrate for the lubricating film; placing the substrate in a vacuum reactor; evacuating the vacuum reactor; generating an alternating electromagnetic field by an AC voltage source; and introducing the alternating electromagnetic field into the interior of the substrate, a field strength thereof in the gas which is present in or introduced into the evacuated cavity of the substrate being sufficient to cause a homogeneous glow discharge under the pressure prevailing in the cavity of the substrate.

These furan units are able to react with the at least one dienophile present in the dienophile-containing solution (dL) to give the surface-functionalized molding (oF) having the functionalized surface (fO).

Abstract: A preparation method of a titanium-dioxide-based double-layer hollow material includes the following steps: (1) using polystyrene nanospheres with particle size of 180 nm as a template, tetrabutyl titanate as a precursor, to prepare hollow titanium dioxide by calcining; (2) subjecting said hollow titanium dioxide to carboxylation modification to prepare carboxylated titanium dioxide; and (3) dispersing said carboxylated titanium dioxide in ethanol, using chromic nitrate nonahydrate as an assembly agent and trimesic acid as a crosslinking agent to carry out layer-by-layer self-assembly so as to prepare the titanium-dioxide-based double-layer hollow material.

Abstract: A method for making a recording sheet is provided, the recording sheet comprising a sizing or coating composition, which comprises a first binder resin, which is compatible with dry toner binder resin; a second binder resin, which is compatible with liquid toner binder resin; a first pigment, which has a BET surface area of from greater than zero to about 35 m2/g or greater; a second pigment, which has a BET surface area of from greater than zero to about 35 m2/g or greater, and which is different from the first pigment; and a paper or plastic substrate in contact with the composition, wherein the sizing or coating composition is comprised within first and second sublayers, and said method for making the recording sheet comprising contacting, in any order: the first binder resin; the second binder resin; the first pigment; the second pigment; or a mixture thereof, and the paper or plastic substrate, to produce the recording sheet.

Abstract: Shielding coatings are applied to polymer substrates for selective metallization of the substrates. The shielding coatings include a primer component and a hydrophobic top coat. The primer is first applied to the polymer substrate followed by application of the top coat component. The shielding coating is then selectively etched to form an outline of a desired current pattern. A catalyst is applied to the patterned polymer substrate followed by electroless metal plating in the etched portions. The portions of the polymer substrate which contain the shielding coating inhibit electroless metal plating. The primers contain polyamines and the top coat contains hydrophobic alky organic compounds.

Abstract: A microstructured article includes a nanovoided layer having opposing first and second major surfaces, the first major surface being microstructured to form prisms, lenses, or other features. The nanovoided layer includes a polymeric binder and a plurality of interconnected voids, and optionally a plurality of nanoparticles. A second layer, which may include a viscoelastic layer or a polymeric resin layer, is disposed on the first or second major surface. A related method includes disposing a coating solution onto a substrate. The coating solution includes a polymerizable material, a solvent, and optional nanoparticles. The method includes polymerizing the polymerizable material while the coating solution is in contact with a microreplication tool to form a microstructured layer. The method also includes removing solvent from the microstructured layer to form a nanovoided microstructured article.

Abstract: A fabric carcass defines the base of a conveyor belt. A first polymer is coated or otherwise disposed over an exterior side of the fabric carcass to cure with a first layer thickness. The first polymer may be a polyvinyl chloride resin with a plasticizer additive to provide an added robustness to belt at a relatively low cost. Due to deterioration that may occur when certain polyvinyl chloride resins are used as the exterior surface of the conveyor belt, a second polymer is disposed over the cured layer of polyvinyl chloride to define an exterior surface that is configured for resiliently interfacing with a die press of a cutting or stamping station. The second polymer may be a polyester to provide improved resiliency and an exterior surface with better durability than the first polymer.

Abstract: The present invention describes a two-sided radiation exposure method including a step of applying a coating or ink composition on a surface of a nonporous substrate. The applied coating or ink composition surface of the nonporous substrate is exposed to radiation one or more times. In addition, a non-applied surface of the nonporous substrate is exposed to radiation one or more times. The two-sided radiation exposure method improves adhesion and/or curing properties of the coating or ink composition applied on the nonporous substrate. The present invention also describes a radiation exposed, nonporous substrate with a coating or ink composition applied on a surface thereof produced by the steps of the above-mentioned method.
