Abstract: PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a thin film transistor substrate used for the LCD are provided to improve luminance and aperture ratio of the LCD. CONSTITUTION: A thin film transistor substrate(100) includes an insulating substrate, a gate line and a sustain electrode line(133a,133b) formed on the insulating substrate, a gate insulating layer(140) formed on the gate line, and a semiconductor layer(151,154) formed on the gate insulating layer. The thin film transistor substrate further includes a data line formed on the gate insulating layer to intersect the gate line and partially connected to the semiconductor layer, a drain electrode(175) separated from the data line and partially connected to the semiconductor layer, and a passivation layer covering the semiconductor layer or data line and having a contact hole(181) for exposing the drain electrode. The thin film transistor substrate also has a pixel electrode formed on the passivation layer and connected to the drain electrode through the contact hole, and a black matrix(220) having an opening corresponding to a pixel region surrounded by the gate line and data line. The opening part of the black matrix is superposed on the sustain electrode line, data line or gate line.

Abstract: An array substrate is provided to form a predetermined contact region between a contact electrode and an input pad even though align miss occurs between a photo mask and an array when forming first, second, and third contact holes for preventing contact defect between the contact electrode and the input pad. An array substrate comprises a base substrate, a driving part(190), first and second wirings, and a pad part. The base substrate has a display region with a pixel array(180) and periphery regions(PA1,PA2) adjacent to the display region. The driving part outputs a driving signal. The pad part, electrically connected with the first and second wirings respectively, transfers the driving signal outputted from the first wiring to the second wiring. The pad part includes an input pad, a gate insulating layer, an output pad, a protective layer, and a contact electrode. The gate insulating layer has a first contact hole. The output pad is partially overlapped with the input pad on the gate insulating layer. The protective layer has second and third contact holes. The contact electrode connects the input pad with the output pad. Even though align miss occurs between the photo mask and the array, a predetermined contact region between the contact electrode and the input pad is formed.
