Abstract: A mode prediction according to a direction of an intra predictive mode improving the coding efficiency and a quantification matrix and a scanning application and an application thereof are provided to improve the performance of coding by using a static pattern of DCT coefficients. An encoder predicts an optimum intra mode by determining directivity among nine intra modes. An intra prediction determines whether to directivity between an intra prediction mode of a current block and an intra prediction mode of an adjacent block. If the quantization matrix sharing within an encoder and a decoder and the suitable quantization matrix is selected according to the direct of intra-mode, this matrix is applied to the quantization process.
