Abstract: A method for the production of 6C dicarboxylic acids (I) from acrylic acid involves reacting diesters of (I) with acrylic acid to give (I) and acrylate esters, separating (I) from the reaction mixture, dimerizing the acrylate esters to diesters of n-butene dicarboxylic acid and converting these diesters into (I). A method for the production of dicarboxylic acids of formula HOOC-(n-C 4H x)-COOH (I) from acrylic acid involves: (a) reaction of diesters of formula R 1>OOC-(n-C 4H x)-COOR 2> (II) with acrylic acid to give (I) and a mixture of acrylate esters of formula C 2H 3COOR 1> and C 2H 3COOR 2>; (b) separation of (I) from the reaction mixture; (c) dimerization of the acrylate esters to give diesters of n-butene dicarboxylic acid; and (d) cleavage of these diesters to give (I). x : 6 or 8; and R 1>, R 2>1-4C alkyl, aryl or heteroaryl.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the epoxidation of an organic compound comprising at least one C-C double bond, using hydrogen peroxide in the presence of at least one catalytically active compound and at least one solvent. Said method is characterised in that a product mixture containing alpha -hydroperoxy alcohols is reduced using at least one reductant. The invention also relates to a method for the epoxidation of an organic compound comprising at least one C-C double bond, using hydrogen peroxide in the presence of at least one catalytically active compound and at least one solvent, characterised in that said method comprises at least the following steps: (i) an organic compound comprising at least one C-C double bond is reacted with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of at least one catalytically active compound and at least one solvent to obtain a product mixture P1 containing alpha -hydroperoxy alcohols; (ii) an epoxide that has been obtained by the reaction in step (i) is separated from P1 or P1', together with the non-converted organic compound comprising at least one C-C double bond, to obtain a product mixture P2 or P2', P2 containing the alpha -hydroperoxy alcohols that have occurred as by-products in the reaction in step (i) and P2' being substantially devoid of alpha -hydroperoxy alcohols. (iii) at least one reductant is added to P1 and/or P2, whereby the alpha -hydroperoxy alcohols are converted into corresponding glycols, obtained in a product mixture P1' or P3.

Abstract: Continuous polyamide production by three-stage reaction of an amino nitrile with water using a zeolite beta, layered silicate or titanium dioxide catalyst comprises performing the first stage in the presence of an organic liquid diluent. Continuous polyamide production comprises: (a) reacting at least one amino nitrile with water in the presence of an organic liquid diluent at 90-400 deg C and 0.1-35 MPa in a tubular reactor containing a Bronsted acid catalyst (I) selected from zeolite beta, layered silicates and titanium dioxide comprising 70-100 wt.% anatase and 0-30 wt.% rutile, in which up to 40 wt.% of the titanium dioxide can be replaced with tungsten oxide; (b) further reacting the product from (a) at 150-400 deg C and a pressure lower than that in step (a) in the presence of a catalyst of type (I) to form a gas phase and a liquid, solid or slurry phase, and separating the gas phase; and (c) contacting the liquid, solid or slurry phase with a water-containing gas or liquid phase at 150-370 deg C and 0.1-30 MPa. An Independent claim is also included for the polyamide produced by the process.

A process for the simultaneous production of ACN and HDA from ADN comprises (a) hydrogenation of ADN in presence of a catalyst based on a Subgroup VIII element to give a mixture containing ACN, HDA, ADN and high-boiling products, (b) separation of HDA from the mixture by distillation, (c1) separation of ACN by distillation and then (d1) separation of ADN by distillation or (c2) simultaneous separation of ACN and ADN in separate fractions. Distillation stage (d1) or (c2) is carried out with a bottom temperature below 185 deg C.
