Abstract: Preparation of a low viscosity aqueous dispersion involves using a seed polymer(s) and a component comprising a water-soluble salt which does not act as an initiator or surface active material. Preparation of a low viscosity aqueous dispersion comprises radically emulsion polymerizing monomers in the presence of a polymerization initiator(s), a surface active material(s) and a seed polymer(s). Part of the seed polymer(s) and part of a component comprising a water-soluble salt which does not act as an initiator or surface active material are charged to the reaction. An Independent claim is included for the obtained dispersion.

Abstract: A method for cooling dispersions or liquids (D/L) after a deodorising process comprising (a) passing steam through the D/L in a boiler (1), causing it to foam, (b) taking the foam from the top of the boiler into an evacuated separator (4) through a jet (5) and thus breaking the foam, (c) condensing the water vapour from the foam in a heat exchanger (8) and removing organic volatiles, and (d) returning the broken foam to (1). This process is continued until the D/L is deodorised to the required extent, then the hot D/L is cooled by transferring it from the bottom of (1) to the evacuated separator (4) via jet (5), the water vapour produced is condensed in (8) as before, and the cooled D/L is taken off at the bottom of (4).

Abstract: In a process and assembly to remove malodorous organic cpds. esp. aq. polymer dispersions, from a dispersion, the (a) the dispersion (1) and a gas (6) are introduced into a vessel (3) which rotates about an axis (5), such that the gas flows against the dispersion in the rotating vessel; (b) and all the corners and edges inside the vessel (3) and within the fluid flow zones are rounded off. A further variant has a rotating inner vessel (3) with permeable walls sepd. by a gap (12) from an outer vessel (4). The gas (6) is introduced to the gap and migrates through the permeable walls (20) into the inner vessel chamber, while the dispersion flows against the direction of gas flow, into the gap (12).
