Abstract: The apparatus includes a recording medium (7-9,11,13) having a plurality of segmented planar electrodes (7-9), a plurality of probe electrodes (21-23) respectively facing the plural planar electrodes and electrically connected to each other, and a circuit (17) for independently applying a voltage for recording and/or reproducing between each pair of the planar electrodes and the probe electrodes. The information recording and/or reproducing apparatus includes a circuit for inputting information to be recorded into the recording medium, a memory (19,20) other than the recording medium for temporarily storing the input information, and a circuit (16) for applying the recording voltages between a plurality of probe electrodes and segmented planar electrodes in correspondence with the information stored in the memory.

Abstract: Information detecting apparatus is disclosed. Abstract: An information detection apparatus is disclosed. A plurality of probes are arranged in the apparatus so as to face a medium which carries an information. Each of the plurality of probes produces a detection signal from the medium. A performance testing device is provided in the apparatus for testing the performance of each of the plurality of probes. A detection device in the apparatus selects the signal from at least one normal probe on the basis of the test result of the testing device and detects the information in accordance with the selected signal. By such the construction in the apparatus, the detection of the information can be continuously effected even if one of the probes is broken.

Abstract: Information reading and/or inputting apparatus has a probe, an electrodes, a detector, a position controller and a probe and portion forming device. By positioning the probe close to an information medium, information reading/inputting is effected in the apparatus. A voltage is applied to the probe through the electrode. Information on distance between the electrode and the probe is detected by the detector and whereby the relative position of the probe to the electrode is controlled by the position controller. The end portion of the probe is reformed in such a manner that a voltage is applied to the end portion of the probe through the electrode under controlling the relative position of the probe to the electrode by the position controller. A high reliable performance for the apparatus can always be attained by the probe reforming mechanism.
