Abstract:
Disclosed is an aqueous ink comprising at least water, a plurality of water-soluble organic solvents and a coloring material. The coloring material is a pigment, and, it contains a pigment particle having at least one ionic group bonded to a surface of the pigment particle directly or via another atomic group. The plurality of water-soluble organic solvents have a good medium or good mediums for the pigment and a poor medium or poor mediums for the pigment. The poor medium does not solvate perfectly or substantially the pigment. The ionic group undergoes perfectly or substantially no ionic dissociation in the poor medium. Also, among the respective Ka values of the plurality of water-soluble organic solvents as determined by the Bristow method, the Ka value of the poor medium is maximum.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Disclosed is an aqueous ink containing water, a plurality of water-soluble organic solvents and a colorant. The colorant is composed of a pigment, and at least one ionic group is bonded to the surface of a pigment particle directly or via an other atomic group. The water-soluble organic solvents contain a good solvent and a poor solvent for the pigment. The poor solvent does not solvate the pigment at all or does not substantially solvate the pigment. The ionic group is not dissociated at all or is not substantially dissociated in the poor solvent. Furthermore, a poor solvent has the largest Ka value, which is determined by the Bristow method, among the water-soluble organic solvents.
Abstract:
A liquid composition for use in a method for recording an image having a step of applying an ink containing a coloring material in a dissolved state or a dispersed state on a recording medium and a step of applying, on the above recording medium, a liquid composition destabilizing the dissolved state or a dispersed state of the above coloring material in the ink by the contact with the ink, characterized in that the above liquid composition comprises a multi-valent metal ion, water and water-soluble organic compounds 1 and 2, the liquid composition contains the above water-soluble organic compound 1 in a content X(%) of 15 mass % or more, and a content X(%) of the above water-soluble organic compound (1) in the liquid composition and a content Y(%) of the above water-soluble organic compound (2) in the liquid composition satisfy a specific relationship. The application of the above liquid composition on a recording medium allows the inhibition of the curling of the medium, while securing the good stability of discharge.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a cyan ink used for an ink set comprising four kinds of aqueous inks, namely a cyan, magenta, yellow and black ink, respectively containing water, a water-insoluble colorant and a plurality of water-soluble organic solvents including a good solvent and poor solvent for the water-insoluble colorant. The cyan ink is characterized in that the ratio B1/A1 between the poor solvent and the good solvent in the cyan ink is within a specific range; the water-soluble solvent having the largest Ka value among the water-soluble organic solvents is a poor solvent; and the ratio B/A between the poor solvent and the good solvent contained in an arbitrary aqueous ink other than the cyan ink in the ink set and the above-described ratio B1/A1 satisfy a certain relation. Such a cyan ink has a sufficiently large area factor even with a small amount of ink droplet, and enables to obtain an image having high image density. This cyan ink is also excellent in shelf life stability and bronzing resistance.
Abstract:
An ink having a sufficiently large area factor even with a small amount of ink droplet and being excellent in shelf life stability is disclosed which enables to obtain an image having excellent image density. Specifically disclosed is a cyan ink used for an ink set comprising four kinds of aqueous inks, namely a cyan ink, a magenta ink, an yellow ink and a black ink, respectively containing at least water, a water-insoluble colorant and a plurality of water-soluble organic solvents including a good solvent for the water-insoluble colorant and a poor solvent for the water-insoluble colorant. The cyan ink is characterized in that the total amount A1 (% by mass) of the good solvent contained in the cyan ink and the total amount B1 (% by mass) of the poor solvent contained in the cyan ink are in a ratio B1/A1 of not less than 0.5 and not more than 3.0; and the water-soluble solvent having the largest Ka value determined by the Bristow method among the water-soluble organic solvents is a poor solvent.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink set having good ink storage properties without interferring an ink feed mechanism, or the like, a recording unit capable of carrying out good image recording for a long period, and an inkjet recording head and to provide an inkjet recording method. SOLUTION: The ink set for inkjet recording has yellow, magenta and cyan ink. In the ink set, each ink comprises a coloring material, a dispersing agent, a water-soluble organic solvent and water, and the highest coloring material concentration (Pmax) and the lowest ink viscosity (Pmin) of the inks satisfy the formula Pmax/Pmin≥3, and when average value of viscosities of all inks is defined as ηave, the viscosity of the each ink falls in the range of ηave±15% and the highest concentration (Smax) and the lowest concentration (Smin) of solvent concentration satisfy the formula Smin/Smax≥0.6. The inkjet recording unit and an inkjet recording apparatus are each equipped with an ink storage part for separately storing each ink of the ink set and the head for discharging the ink. The inkjet recording method comprises using the ink set. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
