    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce ink consumption by providing a plurality of flexible plate- shaped members to be brought into contact with orifice surfaces of recording heads, whereby specified ones of the recording heads are wiped respectively by specified ones of the plate-shaped members. CONSTITUTION:A capping device 10 is moved forward to a wiping position. Then, a carriage 5 is moved rightward, while an orifice surface of ahead 6B is wiped exclusively by a plate-shaped member 14B whereas an orifice surface of a head 6A is wiped exclusively by a plate-shaped member 14A. When the head 6B comes to the right side of the plate-shaped member 14B and the head 6A comes between the two plate-shaped members 14A and 14B, the carriage 5 is stopped, and the capping device 10 is retracted to space the members 14A, 14B from the heads 6A, 6B. After recording is finished, the carriage 5 is moved leftward, and is stopped at a home position. Then, the capping device 10 is moved forward to hermetically seal the orifice surfaces of the heads 6A, 6B by caps 13A, 13B, respectively.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable both serial recording and line-by-line recording, by performing serial recording on a sheet through feeding the sheet from a loading means for a plurality of sheets to a first recording position through a feeding passage, and performing line recording through feeding a rolled form recording paper to a second recording position. CONSTITUTION:At the time of supplying a sheet 207 from a stacker 204, the supply of the sheet is verified by paper sensors 403, 404, and then a pick-up roller 308 is lifted up with the timing of clamping the sheet between a platen 300 and a pinch roller 401. Thereafter, the sheet is fed by the platen 300 and the pinch roller 401 and then by a paper-discharging roller 244. On the other hand, at the time of recording on a thermal recording paper 222 by a thermal line head 113, rotation of a paper-feeding motor is transmitted finally to a roller 226, against which the head 113 is pressed with a predetermined pressure, and thermal recording is conducted line-by-line.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable ink mists to be discharged from a machine through absorbing accumulated ink mists into an absorber and replacing the absorber, by controlling an air flow generated by a fan according to the number of pieces of image-forming data, at a recording surface forming part of a recording means opposed to a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:Air flows generated by fans 390F for attracting a paper by suction are directed to pass through an ink mist collecting part 399, thereby collecting an ink mist. Following the air flows, the ink mist passes through holes provided in a platen 392 into the collecting part 399, and collides against trap members 399B, where it is trapped. Further, the ink mist collides against wall surfaces of a duct 399A, whereby it is completely trapped. When the ink mist is accumulated to form ink drops, which drop in the direction of an arrow A under gravity, and the absorbed into an absorber 399C. An operator replaces the absorber 399C by a new one, whereby the ink mist can be discharged from the machine.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a regulating method capable of easily adjusting the vertical shear among head units, by a method wherein the read address of a data memory is read by shifting it by what corresponds to the mechanical vertical shear of head units. CONSTITUTION:The data sent from a host computer 10 is classified into respective data of yellow, magenta, cyan, and black and converted to be transmitted to data memories 12A, 12B, 12C, and 12D corresponding thereto by means of a changeover device 11. The data put in respective data memories 12A-12D are sent to head units 1A-1D corresponding thereto. Respective head units are driven on the basis thereof and the recording is carried out. When respective color data stored in the data memories 12A-12D are sent to the head units 1A-1D, the vertical shear among respective head units 1A-1D is corrected by controlling the data read start address of a vertically sheared head unit memory and the vertical register is regulated thereby.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily regulate the bias of alignment of the head elements of each head unit by a method in which the reading address of data memory in a printer is read out by biasing it correspondingly to the mechanical bias of alignment. CONSTITUTION:In case where there is an alignment bias (delta) for two dots upwardly in relation to the reference position SU of the upper row for head element 3 in the head unit 1b of magenta, data to be sent to head element 3 with alignment bias (delta) among data to be sent are sent from a position LU biased for two dots from the reading reference position SU of the upper row to the earier orders of data writing in order to regulate the bias (delta). By controlling the reading address of data memories 12A-12B according to the direction and magnitude of alignment bias of the head element 3, the alignment bias of each head element 3 in the head units 1A-1D can be easily and exactly regulated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To allow printing density to be variable according to a type of paper by providing a paper type identifying means, a heater and a blower and electrically controlling them on the basis of the temperature detection readings of a printing head. CONSTITUTION:If a control signal Si from a paper type identifying means 11 indicates 'paper' state (e.g. a photosensor is in 'non-operating condition' because of non-light transmission), a fan 9 and a heater 7 are set to 'low temperature L', while if the signal indicates 'OHP film' state (the photosensor is in 'operating condition' due to light transmission), the fan and heater are set to 'high temperature H'. Thus the fan and heater are controlled respectively. When controlling the heater 7, temperature data Tn from a temperature sensing means 8 are read after checking the elapse of one second to judge whether or not the temperature data thus obtained is lower than a set temperature. To control a blower 9, temperature data from the temperature sensing means 8 are read to interprete whether the data indicates a higher temperature than a set temperature. If it is higher, the blower 9 is set to 'drive ON', and if it is the blower 9 is stopped. In case the temperature is not lower, the blower 9 is left going as it is.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a stable high-quality recorded image by supplying a discharge energy which is properly adjusted by an adjustment means to a recording head using an energy supply means, based on temperature information detected by a temperature detection means. CONSTITUTION:The temperature of a recording head 9 is detected by a temperature sensor 8, and its temperature information is read by a control 6 to perform arithmetic operation. Based on this operational result, an output voltage is determined as a voltage-variable power supply 5. In addition, the control 6 transmits a recording signal to a drive circuit 7, and the drive circuit 7 drives a recording head 9 according to the recording signal, using an output from the voltage-variable power supply 5. Consequently, if the temperature of the recording head increased significantly, a recorded image free from any satellite or ink mist can be obtained. Further, if a total calorific value were increased by the mounting of recording elements densely mounted on a large scale, satisfactory recording performance is assured.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable a driving voltage to be automatically set when changing an unit to save trouble for adjustment and to keep the optimum ink discharge condition, by providing a voltage setting part in a printing head unit to automatically set driving voltage at the time of unit replacement. CONSTITUTION:An unit 2 comprises a baseplate 6 provided with head elements 5, an electric circuit such as a head driving circuit, an ink supply system, and in the rear thereof an interface part 8 having a connecter 7. A voltage setting part 9, provided in the interface part 8, sets the driving voltage VH intrinsic to the unit 2 and is so constructed as to electrically connected to a controller in the device through the connecter 7 to be controlled thereby. Accordingly, when replacing the unit, the head driving voltage can be automatically controlled to be intrinsically optimum value without special adjustment operation, resulting in improving management of the recording device and maintaining the optimum ink discharge condition. As the result, improvement of the printing quality can be realized.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To realize accurate recording by excluding, with excluding means, wrinkles due to tensile sorce given to a perforation part in the course of conveyance. CONSTITUTION:Recording paper P, pulled up from a deck part 20 by means of feed rolls 30, 130, is led to an oblique movement preventive roll 90 along a paper guide 25. Since said roll 90 not only supports empty weight of the paper up to the deck part 20 but also excludes both oblique and meandrous movements which occur during this supporting, the lower paper feed roll 30 and a holding roll 70 convey the recording paper P in a condition where the above-mentioned movements of the paper do not occur in the position of recording. Subsequently, wrinkles of the recording paper P creased due to tensile force during the course of conveyance are excluded, before they reach the position of recording, by means of wrinkle removing roll 100 provided between the lower paper feed roll 30 and a platen 100. Further, the recording surface is controlled in flat by means of the platen 110 and an absorbing fan 112. Recording by a printer 10 is performed accurately under this condition.
