Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink which forms images suitable for the image recording and display device of an ink jet recording type, can prevent dyeing to recording medium, and shows improved erase and release properties of images, and an image display device which consumes less electric power than conventional image display devices, can save resources, can display color images of a high grade, can eliminate images readily by an erasing member, and can form a system corresponding to a network, by using the ink. SOLUTION: There are provided an ink for image display devices having a means of erasing images recorded on a recording medium, which comprises a liquid medium, a pigment and colloidal silica, the particle size distribution of the colloidal silica having at least two frequency maximum values, and an image display device using the same.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide excellent electron emitting characteristics and highly bright display for a long time by disposing the narrowest part of an interval between a first carbon film and a second carbon film in a first interval above the substrate surface and by providing a recessed part on a substrate at least in the first interval. SOLUTION: Conductive films 4a and 4b consist of a pair of conductive films opposed each other sandwiching a second interval 7 formed by a forming process. Carbon films 21a and 21b are disposed on a substrate 1 in a first interval 8 and on the conductive films 4a and 4b. The carbon films 21a and 21b are connected to an electrode through the conductive films 4a and 4b. In this case, the surface of the conductive films 4a and 4b is covered with the carbon films 21a and 21b. The first interval 8 separating the carbon films 21a and 21b has a narrower part above the substrate surface and above the conductive film surface in the normal direction with respect to the substrate surface. The substrate surface has a recessed shape.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the manhour, to improve the reliability of a connection part, and to provide the image of high quality with the picture element arrangement at a high density by simplifying the structure of an electrode and a wiring part in an electron source, in which plural electron emitting elements are arranged. SOLUTION: A pair of element electrodes 11, 12 are formed on a substrate (a), and a wiring 13 of a first layer is formed (b), and a band-shaped inter-layer insulating film 14 is formed (c). A wiring 15 of a second layer is simultaneously formed with the connection of the element electrode 11 in a recessed part 14a (d), and a wiring 16 of a third layer is repeated with the same material in the same condition with the wiring 15 (e) for the perfect contact, and the wiring at a low resistance is enabled. Finally, a film 17 of an electron emitting part is formed between the element electrodes (f) so as to finish the electron emitting element for electron source. Reliability of the connection part of the electrode and the wiring is thereby improved, and the generation of unevenness of image due to an increase of the wiring resistance is prevented, and a device with a large screen, of which image is finely divided, is obtained.

CONSTITUTION:An electron emission element comprises an insulating base material 1, electrodes 2, 3, an electron emission area 5, and perticulate films 4 which are located on both sides to sandwich the area and minimized in its resistance value, and perticulates 6 are dispersed in the area 5. In this constitution, the interval of the perticulates 6 is set within a range of 5-100Angstrom , the mean diameter is set within a range of 5-1000Angstrom , and occupancy area rate is set within a range of 20-15%. The length on which voltage is applied within the area 5 is set is set within a range of 5-300Angstrom and field intensity is set more than 10V/cm. thus clear image having contrast faithful to original information signals is provided.

CONSTITUTION:In an electron emitting element in which an electron emitting member is provided between electrodes 2 and 3 provided on a base 1, an area A and an area B are arranged between the electrode 2 and 3, and the area A is provided concurrently through the area B to at least one side of the electrodes 2 and 3. The conductivity sigma1 of the main material to compose the area A, and the conductivity sigma2 of the main material to compose the area B satisfy the relation sigma1>sigma2, and the area A is made as the electron emitting member. Such a constitution is the specific feature of the electron emitting element, and the electron beam generator and the image forming device, using such an electron emitting element.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sample evaluating device that can analyze the cross-sectional structure of a sample in a state where the temperature of the sample is adjusted. This device also has an electron detector 6 which detects secondary electrons emitted from the sample 1 when the ion beam or electron beam is projected upon the sample 1; and a control section 7 which brings the cross section of the sample 1 by causing the ion beam generating section 4 to project the ion beam upon a prescribed part of the sample 1 and, at the same time, scans the surface of the prescribed part or the cross section with the ion beam or electron beam, and acquires a mapped image based on secondary electrons emitted from a plurality of points and detected by means of the electron detector 6 synchronously to the scanning.
