Abstract:
The invention is a foam stabilizing composition which is used in conjunction with alkaline detergent products to produce a foam which is capable of clinging to vertical surfaces for extended time periods without breakdown or drying and ultimately rinse freely with water. The foam composition generally comprises an alkalinity source and a vinyl polymer. The invention also comprises a method of cleaning hard surfaces using the disclosed composition.
Abstract:
A protective aqueous antimicrobial film forming composition that can be applied to dairy animals to form a protective film. The film can be used to reduce the incidence of both contagious and environmental mastitis in dairy herds and can be formed from an aqueous composition that can contain a nonionic iodine complex, a polyvinyl alcohol composition, having a degree of hydrolysis greater than 92 %, preferably greater than 98 %, and a thickener. The aqueous mixture can be applied to udder and teats of dairy herds to form a protective coating that can prevent infection from staphlococcus, streptococcus, klebsiella and other pathogens. The film can be removed using water in a convenient short period of time permitting efficient milking operations. After milking, the composition can be reapplied to the herd and can protect the herd from mastitis until the herd is again milked. The material of the invention has the property that after application and drying both films and plugs of the protective coating is softened and removed even in cold water in a convenient time frame.
Abstract:
The invention is an erodible antimicrobial caulk composition having a sanitizer and a hardener which controls the consistency and the dissolution rate of the composition once subjected to an aqueous flow. Also disclosed is a method of preparing the erodible caulk composition. These caulks are useful in institutional food preparation and food serving environments including restaurants, hospitals, day care facilities, nursing homes, and the like as well as institutional food harvesting and processing environments including food and beverage processing plants, dairy farms and dairy plant operations, red meat, poultry and fish preparation and processing environments, and the like, including post process food transport and distribution channel environments such as trucks and grocery or foodstuff retailers.
Abstract:
A vented closure device (10) is disclosed which is useful in operation with shipping packaged liquids in containers, such as drums (11). The vented closure device (10) incorporates at least one liquid impermeable, gas permeable membrane (20, 25, 32) to prevent leakage of the liquid contents and contains a scrubbing media (26) which acts to prevent the release of undesirable chemical vapors from the shipping container (11) into the atmosphere. The scrubbing media (26) may be an activated carbon absorber.
Abstract:
A system for proportioning and dispensing concentrated liquid products is disclosed. The components of the system's first embodiment are mounted upon a cart (12). A concentrate solution tube (14) is interconnected to a dilution assembly (61) containing an aspirator (26). A water supply assembly (69), containing a valve (75) and backflow preventer (74), is connected to the aspirator assembly (26) when dilution of the concentrated product (13) is desired. A discharge tube (68) carries the diluted product from the aspirator assembly (26) to a container (60). The system's second embodiment has a spray gun assembly (150) containing an aspirator (167), a valve (166), and preferably though not necessarily, a backflow preventer (165). The concentrate pickup tube (114) attaches to the spray gun assembly (150) with a releasable connector (170). The spray gun assembly has a rigid delivery tube (153) for dispensing to large containers (160), and a nozzle tip (180) for attachment to an inlet port (119) of a jug (111). Also disclosed is a method for dispensing and handling solutions.
Abstract:
A general purpose detersive system and detersive system useful in warewashing and in laundry processes have been developed in which highly active encapsulated halogen sources have been incorporated into cast, solid detersive systems containing oxidizable organics that are highly reactive with the active chlorine sources. The stability of the detersive systems thus formulated has been shown to be sufficient to permit the cast materials to be storage stable for a sufficient period to permit the manufacture, distribution, sale and consumption of the cast materials before the availability of either the organic materials or the active halogen drops below an effective level.
Abstract:
Aqueous processes and compositions of the invention for obtaining a 'stone-washed', distressed or 'used and abused' look in clothing, particularly in the panels and seams of denim jeans and jackets involve compositions that are stone-free that avoid mechanical abrasion of the fabric. In particular, the process and composition of the invention used to obtain the distressed, 'stone-washed' or 'acid washed look' are free of common pumice or pumice-bleach compositions, used in large institutional-size laundry machines, and rely solely on the chemical action of aqueous treatment compositions. The aqueous treatments can be made from liquid or solid concentrates.
Abstract:
A gear pump and seal for use therewith utilize a grease sealant disposed in a sealant chamber between a pair of annular seal members to both lubricate the drive shaft and restrict leakage from the seal chamber into the pumping chamber. The gear pump and seal are particularly adapted for use in delivering caustic pumping fluids in vacuum applications.
Abstract:
An insect trap (400) using attractant light, comprising a source of insect attractant light and a housing (404) that can be mounted on a generally planar or flat mounting surface. The housing (404) and the source of light cooperate to form a bidirectional or a multidirectional (overlapping or non-overlapping) pattern of insect attractant light. The housing comprises one, two or more openings for the insect attractant light (401) that is reflected and radiated onto the flat mounting surface. The housing and the source of insect attractant light can cooperate to form a light pattern directed in a continuous display pattern that can surround the housing. The housing openings further facilitate the entry of flying insect pests into the trap. As the insects enter the trap, they are immobilized on an insect immobilization surface mounted within the trap. Cooperation between the direct radiant light, reflected light and the position of the housing and insect immobilization surface forms at least two (preferably non-overlapping) light displays that can substantially increase capture rates when compared to prior traps. The trap can also display a light pattern substantially surrounding the trap housing.
Abstract:
A cleaning and restoration system (10) for floors (11) and other hard surfaces is disclosed. The system (10) has a cleaning head (12) which can be moved across a floor (11) or other hard surface. The cleaning head (12) impinges particulate media upon the floor (11) to remove soils and provide a slip-resistant surface. The media is entrained into the air by a pressure tank (18). The media is reclaimed in a classifier (17); and the dust, soils, and other undesirable materials are filtered in a dust collector (57). A compressor (20) and a vacuum blower (22), and the other components of the system are mounted on a truck (19). A method for utilizing the restoration system (10) is also disclosed.
