    Abstract: An apparatus for actuating one or more latching arrangements of one or more respective rocker arms of a valve train assembly of an internal combustion engine, each rocker arm comprising a first body, a second body for pivotal motion with respect to the first body, and the latching arrangement, the latching arrangement latching and unlatching the first body and the second body, the includes: a shaft rotatable by an actuation source, from a rest orientation, in a first direction, and rotatable by the actuation source, from the rest orientation, in a second direction opposite the first direction; one or more selector cams rotatable by the shaft, each selector cam actuating the latching arrangement of a respective rocker arm so as to latch and/or unlatch the first body and the second body; and a return apparatus for returning the shaft to the rest orientation.

    Abstract: An actuation apparatus actuates a latching arrangement of a switchable valve train component of an internal combustion engine. The apparatus includes: a lever configured to contract an actuation source and configured to contact the latching arrangement; and a bias. The bias contacts the lever. The bias is configured such that, in use, the bias becomes biased by the lever when the actuation source moves the lever when the actuation source attempts to actuate the latching arrangement, via the lever, when the latching arrangement is non-actuatable, whereby the bias causes the lever to actuate the latching arrangement when the latching arrangement is actuatable again.

    Abstract: A hydraulic capsule for use in a rocker arm comprises a housing having an upper chamber that receives fluid and a lower chamber in fluid communication with the upper chamber, a pin disposed in the upper chamber and configured to be hydraulicly controlled to extend and/or retract, a check valve assembly disposed in the lower chamber and configured to selectively enable fluid communication between the upper chamber and the lower chamber based on the position of the pin, a plunger disposed in the lower chamber and configured to be hydraulicly controlled to move between an extended position and a retracted position, and a first spring coupled to the plunger and configured to bias the plunger in the retracted position. Particularly, in the retracted position, the plunger does not engage a valve bridge. In the extended position, the plunger is able to engage the valve bridge.

    Abstract: A rocker arm assembly includes an engine brake capsule assembly. The engine brake capsule assembly movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The engine brake capsule assembly comprises a body comprising a lower chamber and an upper chamber. The engine brake capsule assembly further comprises a plunger disposed partially within the lower chamber, wherein the plunger comprises an external shoulder disposed on a side of the plunger, and a locking pin configured to extend into the lower chamber and engage with the external shoulder of the plunger. The engine brake capsule assembly further comprises an actuation pin disposed within the upper chamber and extending down into an internal housing disposed within the lower chamber and a check ball valve assembly disposed within the plunger configured to selectively enable a hydraulic fluid into an internal chamber of the plunger.

    Abstract: A combined exhaust and engine brake rocker arm assembly (20) configured to selectively open first and second exhaust valves (26, 28) includes a rocker arm body (40), an exhaust rocker arm assembly (16) formed in the rocker arm body (40), and a lost motion spigot assembly (56) including an adjustment nut (70) and guide (62) configured to receive a shaft assembly (60) for adjusting a lash of the lost motion spigot assembly (56). The shaft assembly is disposed within a bore (92) of the adjustment nut below an upper surface thereof, and an engine brake rocker arm assembly (18) is formed in the rocker arm body (40) and configured to operate in a collapse mode and a rigid mode. The lost motion spigot assembly (56) is configured to selectively engage a valve bridge (52) to open the first and second exhaust valves (26, 28), and the engine brake rocker arm assembly (18) is configured to selectively engage the valve bridge (52) to open only the first exhaust valve (26).
