    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a magenta pigment for sublimation thermal transfer recording which is excellent in solubility, ribbon reserving-stability, dyeing property, durability, and light fastness by a specific compound which is obtained by diazotizing 4-substitution-2, 6-dibromoaniline, effecting a coupling reaction with various kinds of aniline and cyanizing it. CONSTITUTION:The title pigment is composed of a compound expressed by the formula I (R expresses an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, R expresses an alkyl group, an aryl group, a halogenoalkyl group, R expresses an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxyalkyl group, a cyanoalkyl group, an alkylcarboxyalkyl group, the halogenoalkyl group, X expresses H, an alkoxy group, and Y expresses H, an alkoxy group, an alkylcarbonylamino group, an alkylsulfonylamino group.). This pigment is excellent in solubility, ribbon- reserving stability, dyeing property, durability, and light fastness.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance the sublimation speed at the time of transfer and image stability after transfer by using a compound represented by a specific general formula obtained by the oxidative bonding of substituted anilines and substituted phenols. CONSTITUTION:As a dye for thermal sublimation transfer recording used in color hard copy, a compound represented by general formula (1) (wherein R is a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a substituted or non-substituted alkyl group or an alkoxy group, R -R are a hydrogen atom, a 1-4C alkyl group or a halogen atom. R -R are a hydrogen atom, a 1-4C alkyl group, an alkoxy group or an alkylcarbonylamino group and R and R are a hydrogen atom, a substituted or non-substituted alkyl group or an alkenyl group) is used. An ink composition for a thermal sublimation transfer sheet is obtained from said dye, a binder (resin) and an org. solvent and/or water.

    Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are H, alkyl, etc.; R3 is H, halogen, etc.; X is H, aryl, etc.; Y is H, alkylcarbonyl, etc.). EXAMPLE:3-[Benzothiazo-2-yl]-4-ethoxycarbonyl-7-diethylaminocoumarin. USE:A photosensitizer. A photosensitive resin composition containing the compound gives a photosensitive coating film having excellent sensitivity and aging stability independent of the coating process. PREPARATION:The objective compound can be produced by reacting a 4- substituted aminosalicylaldehyde of formula II with a cyanomethyl-substituted compound of formula YCH2CN in a polar solvent (e.g. DMF) in the presence of a weak base (preferably pyridine, etc.), boiling the reaction product in 5-20 times volume of dilute hydrochloric acid having a concentration of 1-5wt.% to obtain a compound of formula III, reacting the compound with NaCN in DMF, oxidizing with bromine and, finally, reacting the resultant compound of formula IV with concentrated sulfuric acid in an alcohol.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To control sublimable transfer amount of dye, to facilitate gradation recording, and to enhance preservation of record without thermally decomposing during transfer recording by altering energy to be applied to a heat sensitive head at the time of heat transfer by using specific cyan dye. CONSTITUTION:Sublimation speed at the time of transferring relates to mutual action among dye molecules, and to mutual action between dye molecules and ink binder resin. The dye having satisfactory solubility to ink solvent and lower melting point is desired, and the dye having mutual action to the binder resin for ink to be small in the degree not lose preservation stability after a ribbon is manufactured is most desirable. Dye represented by a general formula (I) obtains relatively satisfactory sublimating speed. In the formula, A is alkylcarbonylamino group, formylamino group, alkylaminocarbonyl group, etc., X is hydrogen atom, lower alkyl group, halogen atom, etc., R1, R2 are lower alkyl group, alkoxyalkyl group, halogenoalkyl group, etc., and n is numbers of 0-3.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance heat-resistance, light-resistance, sublimation speed, hue, ribbon stability, and the like, by using an anthraquinone dye of Cyan shown by a specific formula as a dye for sublimation-transfer recording. CONSTITUTION:An anthraquinone dye for sublimation-transfer recording is synthesized by a method in which 1-amino-4-bromoanthraquinone-2-carboxylic acid employed as a raw material is esterified and condensed with anilines. This anthraquinone dye is shown by a formula I (R1 represents lower alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aryl, or aralkyl; and R2 represents alkylcarbonyl, alkylcarboxy, alkoxyalkyl, alkoxyalkoxy, hydroxyl, or halogen atom). This dye is mixed with suitable resins, solvents, and the like, whereby a thermal transfer recording ink is prepared.

    Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:An anthraquinone pigment of formula I (wherein at least one of the benzene nuclei A-D is substituted with a halogen, and the rest are substituted with a lower alkyl, a cycloalkyl, a lower alkoxyl, a trifluoromethyl, phenoxy or OH). USE:A highly pure anthraquinone pigment having absorption characteristics suitable for a near-infrared absorption filter and being suitable for a highly sensitive near-infrared absorption filter. PREPARATION:1,4,5,8-Tetrachloroanthraquinone recrystallized from a solvent such as monochlorobenzene, dichlorobenzene or nitrobenzene is reacted with at least 4mol., per mol. of the quinone, of an aniline derivative of formula II, III, IV or V at 80-170 deg.C for 5-10hr with agitation in the presence of a catalyst comprising 0.1-1mol., per mol. of the quinone, copper sulfate, 0.01-30mol. of a (substituted)benzyl alcohol and 0.1-1mol. of aliphatic carboxylic acid salt (e.g., potassium acetate).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the above substance substituted at 1,4,5,8-positions simply, inexpensively and in high yield, by chlorinating alpha-position dichloroanthraquinone with a chlorine gas in the presence of a very small amount of iodine in fuming sulfuric acid. CONSTITUTION:Dichloroanthraquinone (1,4-, 1,5- or 1,8-dichloroanthraquinone) as a raw material is chlorinated in a solvent of fuming sulfuric acid in the presence of 0.5-0.6wt.% based on the raw material of iodine as a reaction initiator at 25-55 deg.C (preferably 35-45 deg.C) for 5-15hr by introducing a chlorine gas to the reaction solution to give 1,4,5,8-tetrachloroanthraquinone. The fuming sulfuric acid has 15-40wt.% (preferably 20-30wt.%) SO3 concentration. After the reaction, the reaction solution is diluted into 95-98wt.% sulfuric acid concentration, filtered and separated to give the aimed substance. The above substance is useful as an intermediate for synthetic dye and dyestuff material.

CONSTITUTION:This dichroic pigment for liquid display is represented by formula I (wherein R1 is hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group or an alkoxy group, R2 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group). The decahydronaphthyl group in formula I is preferably a trans isomer. This pigment is desirably used in a concentration of 0.1-5wt.% based on a liquid crystal.
