    Abstract: The heater includes a cylindrical tube made of mechanically strong and elsatic electromaterial, such as metal with multiple separated sections. Electrically insulated layer, such as ceramic, is applied on its external surface with the exception of one open section. Then electrically resistent heaters are applied over the insulated sections which are electrically connected by one of their ends to the underlying electrically conducting section. The electric conductor is connected to the negative terminal of a supply source. The other end of all heaters is fabricated in such a way in order that it should be connected to the positive terminal of the source. Electroresistant heating circuit shall be made, respectively, where the tube shall serve as a common terminal for all the heating elements. The tubular heater can contain an open endpiece from which multiple wider sections can spread. On each of them a heating layer can be separately applied. In another alternative a heater can be applied on every other wider section. The wider sections having no heaters shall act as barriers for minimizing the separation of the produced scents outwards and as heat absorbers for the heaters in the adjacent sections. 49 claims, 14 figures

    Abstract: A cylindrical tube is provided of a mechanically strong and flexible electrical conductor such as a metal and has a plurality of separated regions. An electrically insulating layer such as a ceramic is applied on the outer surface except for one exposed portion. Electrically resistive heaters are then applied to the insulated regions and are electrically connected at one end to the underlying electrical conducting region. The electrical conductor is connected to the negative terminal of a power source. The other end of all the heaters are adapted to be connected to the positive terminal of the source. Accordingly, an electrically resistive heating circuit is formed wherein the tube serves as a common for all of the heating elements. The tubular heater can comprise an exposed end hub with a plurality of blades extending therefrom. Each blade can have an individual heater deposited thereon. Alternatively, every other blade can have a heater deposited thereon. The blades having no heater function as barriers to minimize outward escape of generated vapors. These barrier blades also function as heat sinks for the heaters on adjacent blades.

    Abstract: A novel photonic-electronic smoking system comprising a cigarette and a photonic operated electronic lighter, together with methodologies of smoking a cigarette, the lighter comprising a receptacle for removably receiving a cigarette; a photonic source; an optical train establishing a plurality of optical pathways from said photonic source to a plurality of locations at the received cigarette; a source of electrical power; a puff sensor responsive to a drawing action upon a cigarette received by said receptacle; and a controller responsive to said puff sensor for controllably communicating said source of electrical power with said photonic source so that upon drawing action upon the received cigarette, the photonic source discharges along said optical pathway to heat a region of said cigarette adjacent at least one of said locations.
