    Abstract: PURPOSE:In its production, a specific metal compound, a specific amount of phosphorus compound and aluminum hydroxide are added to produce polyester giving PET films with good slip properties, electric characteristics and high heat resistance. CONSTITUTION:The reaction between (A) dicarboxylic acids mainly consisting of terephthalic acid or their esters and (B) glycols mainly consisting of ethylene glycol is effected in the presence of (C) metal compound selected from Ca, Mg, Zn and/or Mn, (D) a phosphorus compound such as phosphoric acid in such an amount as the equation is satisfied (M is moles of compound A; P is moles of compound B) and (E) aluminum hydroxiede of 1-5 micron average particle size by 0.01-2wt% based on the objective polyester to give the objective polyester. The above compound A is preferably used as an ester-interchange catalyst. USE:Extremely thin films for electrical condensencers.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a film-forming polyester excellent in slidability, opacity and surface appearance, by completing a polycondensation of terephthalic aicd with a glycol at a specified point of the reaction course in the presence of a lithium compound, a calcium compound and a phosphorus compound. CONSTITUTION:In producing an ethylene terephthalate-based polyester by a transesterification or esterification reaction of terephthalic acid or its esterifiable derivative with a glycol, followed by a polycondensation reaction, the polycondensation reaction is brought to completion by adding a lithium compound, a calcium compound and a phorphorus compound in amounts satisfying relationshipsI, II and III, wherein Li, Ca and P are mol% of the lithium, calcium, and phosphorus compounds, respectively, at a point between the start of the esterification or transesterification reaction and a point at which the polycondensation reaction proceeds to an intrinsic viscosity

    Abstract: PURPOSE:The title composition having improved dimensional stability of parisons in a molten state, and thermal stability and mechanical properties, comprising an epoxy group-containing copolymer and a trifunctional organic phosphorus compound. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100 parts by wt. of an aromatic polyester, preferably polybutylene terephthalate, is melt kneaded homogeneously with (B) 1-40 parts by wt., preferably 3-30 parts wt., of a copolymer consisting of an epoxy group-containing unsaturated monomer, e.g. glycidyl acrylate, of the formula (R is hydrocarbon group having one ethylenically unsaturated group) and other unsaturated monomers, e.g. ethylene, and (C) 0.05-10 parts by wt., preferably 0.1-5 parts by wt., of a trifunctional organic phosphorus compound of the formula PR1R2R3 (R1, R2, and R3 are aliphatic, aromatic, alicyclic, or alkoxy groups) above the melting point of the polyester by means of an extruder.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:A polyester composition having improved mechanical, electrical, chemical, and thermal properties, obtained by adding an organic phosphorus compound and a specific nucleating agent to a linear polyester. CONSTITUTION:A) A limear polyester having a relative viscosity of 1.3-1.6 is blended with B) 0.3 -30 wt.%, preferably 1-10 wt.% of one or more organic phosphorus compounds selected from the group consisting of compounds shown by the formula I, II, and III (R1, R2, R5, and R6 are aromatic group residue; R3 and R4 are H or 1-4C alkyl; R7-10 are aromatic residue or 1-20C alkyl; A is ether, 1-6C alkylidene, sulfone, or thioether; K is 2-12; l is 1-3; m is 0-1; n is 0.1- 2), and C) 0.005-10 wt%, preferably 0.005-1 wt.% of a polyester having a melting point higher than that of the linear polyester or talc, which has particle diameters of 1-10mu, as a nucleaging agent.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a polyester molding composition which can be molded into a stable article in high speed, and useful for the production of small-sized, thin-walled articles, by hot compounding of polybutylene terephthalate pellets with an aliphatic carboxylic acid metal salt and inorganic solid powders. CONSTITUTION:A composition composed of (A) 100 parts by weight of polybutylene terephthalate pellets, (B) 0.01-5.0 parts by weight of an aliphatic carboxylic acid metal salt having a melting point of 60-200 deg.C, and (C) 0.01-5.0 parts by weight of inorganic powder, is kneaded at a temperature below the melting point of said metal salt. The resin pellet may be square plate, cylindrical form, spherical form, etc., and preferably has an average diameter of 1-10 mm. The aliphatic carboxylic acid metal salt is, e.g. sodium stearate, calcium plamitate, etc., and the inorganic powder is e.g. clay, mica, etc.
