    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the occurrence of white-powder scum to enable a monofilament to be woven with a fine denier and a high strength, by a method wherein a monofilament is made of a polyester containing a calcium compound as fine particles with specific fineness and breaking strength. CONSTITUTION:A monofilament made of a polyester containing a calcium compound as fine particles has a fineness of 5-20 denier and a breaking strength of 5.0-8.0 g/D. The calcium compound is preferably selected from among groups of calcium carbonate, calcium oxide, and calcium terephthalate. The fine particles made of the aforesaid calcium compound reduce a coefficient of friction between the monofilament and a metal to prevent the monofilament itself from being scraped off. Because the particles are soft, the scraping-off of the monofilament caused by the friction of a reed can be prevented. The monofilament has a single-yarn fineness of 5-20 denier, and with more than 20 denier the possibility of enhancing an opening area is eliminated in a high- mesh screening gauze. On the other hand, a breaking strength of 5.0-8.0 g/D is preferable, and with more than 8.0 g/D the occurrence of white-powder scum is increased.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled yarn having a silky rayon-like feeling and excellent coloring properties, polyester yarn containing inorganic fine particles having specific optical refractive index and average particle diameter, having specific number of fine pores with specific size and shape on the surface of the yarn. CONSTITUTION:A polyester of polyethylene terephthalate obtained by adding 1.0-5.0wt.% inorganic fine particles (e.g. calcium silicate) having 1.4-1.7 optical refractive index and 0.3-1.2mum average particle diameter and by polycondensation is subjected to melt spinning and drawn to give the aimed silky rayon-like yarn having excellent coloring properties and fine pores which has a mean value of the maximum width W in the circumferential direction of yarn >0.8mu, a mean value A of the ratio L/W of length L to the maximum width W>3 when the length in the fiber axis direction is L and average number of pores based on 10mum in the circumferential direction of 1-8.
