    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiplexer that transfers an MPEG multi-program transfer stream to an ATM virtual channel and multiplexes the virtual channel on a virtual path. SOLUTION: A syntax analysis section AS receives a plurality of streams and separates data packets in each stream from service packets. The data packet is directly transferred to a means to generate an output stream, that is, an output stream generator CF and also sent to a processing/controller MP. The processing/controller MP conducts processing and especially updates service information and returns a synthesized output stream. The output stream generator CF generates a single program output stream or a multi-program stream at a frequency band lower than that of the input stream and sends it to a service user. The output stream is obtained by beginning from the packet stored in a temporal storage means that is a memory device ME and the service packet that is processed and set to the virtual ATM channel.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory structure that ensures incremental update of a routing table and optimum utilizing of a physical memory. SOLUTION: A memory to retrieve information by a prefix analysis in order to build up a routing table for a node of a high speed communication network such as the Internet especially includes a memory element M1 that stores one set of information items and each of the information items relates to mask information and target information denoting a number of important characters in respective prefixes. In order to realize a retrieval reference based on coincidence of a longest prefix, each cell includes an information field to provide an address of a succeeding line for consecutive retrieval or an arrived target and a couple of flags specifying contents of the information field. An auxiliary vector AUX includes cells of the same number as memory lines and when a flag in a cell of the memory element indicates necessity for retrieval of a succeeding line and read of the target, the target information is stored in a cell relating to the succeeding line.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactor for chemical vapor deposition in which a deposition process can be attained by a controlled method. SOLUTION: A substrate W to be deposited is held at a substantially vertical position, relative movement is applied to a nozzle 26, and a reactor having therein a gas for carriage of deposition reactive material is provided. Preferably the reactor has a generally cylindrical shape, the substrate W is placed on a carousel structure 7 rotating around a main axis X8, the main axis X8 coinciding with a main axis of a case of the reactor. Diffusion of the carrier gas and reactive material starts from a head 11 projected from an arch ceilling of the case of the reactor and extended into the carousel structure 7 having the substrate W placed thereon. The head 11, which has a plurality of nozzles 26 uniformly distributed along its circumference, ejects the carrier gas and reactive material. The deposition is applied preferably to the deposition of semiconductor starting with vapor phase metal/organic compound, and in particular, to integrated optics.
