    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for promoting the production of Monacolin K in red yeast rice, and a device for rotating and culturing the same. The method comprises a method for culturing red yeast rice which is contained in a culturing container. The culturing container is horizontally laid between two support rods which can be rotated in order to come in contact with the support rods. The culturing container is rotated at a predetermined speed using electric power of the support rods so that the culturing container which comes in contact with the surface of a roller is rotated together and the red yeast rice is cultured. When a large amount of red yeast rice is cultured using the device of the present invention, the production amount of Monacolin K can be more increased than when red yeast rice is cultured through existing culturing methods. Moreover, large-scale contamination which is generated when the red yeast rice is cultured in a rotating culturing container can be prevented and an automatic agitating device can be utilized so that uniform a solid fermented material can be obtained. The device can be mechanically operated so that a person does not have to perform agitation for culturing in bags by himself/herself and required man power can be reduced.
