Abstract: PURPOSE: A charge compression ignition engine is provided to ensure stable compression ignition and consumption noise reduction through multistage injection and multi-ignition. CONSTITUTION: A charge compression ignition engine comprises intake valves(30), exhaust valves(90), an ignition plug(70), and an injector(60). The ignition plug is located in the center of a combustion chamber(10). The injector is located close to the ignition plug and faces the center of the combustion chamber. The exhaust valves have symmetric valve lifts in which the lifts and opening ranges of the exhaust valves are the same at the time of low lift. The intake valves have asymmetric valve lifts in which the lifts and opening ranges of the intake valves are different at the time of low lift. The intake valves move by the same valve lift in a spark ignition mode while one of the intake valves moves by a smaller valve lift than the other one in a self-ignition mode.
