    Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for removing tar from an LPG engine for a vehicle are provided to automatically remove the tar at the predetermined period by using the fuel detection sensor of the LPG engine of the vehicle, thereby improving the engine output and starting of the engine and providing the convenience of a driver. CONSTITUTION: A method for removing tar from an LPG engine is composed of steps of; calculating a first fuel remaining amount by obtaining the fuel remaining amount in a fuel tank according to the ignition key-on condition and engine starting condition; calculating a second fuel remaining amount by obtaining the fuel remaining amount in the fuel tank according to the ignition key and engine starting off condition; calculating a fuel unit consumption; calculating a fuel total consumption; and outputting the required signal to remove the tar by comparing the total fuel consumption calculated from the above step with a first reference value.
