    Abstract: PURPOSE: A process for manufacturing an electrode and a membrane-electrode assembly for a polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell are provided to improve catalyst availability by providing a uniformly dispersed high concentration catalyst slurry. CONSTITUTION: A process for manufacturing an electrode for a polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell comprises an ultrasonic wave and high-speed stirring step for dispersing initial catalyst particles; a vacuum and de-aeration step for penetrating and adsorbing ionomers in primary pores; a bead milling step for dispersing large catalyst particles which are present in a small amount; removing micro bubbles generated from a manufacturing process; preparing a catalytic slurry from which large catalyst particles are removed through a final filtering process; and drying the catalyst slurry by applying the catalyst slurry on the surface of a release film.

    Abstract: A blended polymer electrolyte membrane is provided to ensure excellent hydrogen ion conductivity, electrochemical characteristic, mechanical property and thermal stability, and to reduce interfacial resistance when a membrane and an electrode are welded. A blended polymer electrolyte membrane comprises a polymer consisting of an inorganic polymer; and a proton conductive polymer having cation exchange groups at a side chain. The inorganic polymer has a pore structure of 3-aminopropyltriethylsilane and tetraethylorthosilicate at both terminals and a main chain bonded with the phosphoric acid is polydimethyl siloxane.
