    Abstract: A process for the preparation of propylene-ethylene copolymers in an agitated fixed bed in which propylene is polymerised from the gas phase, initially in a first polymerisation zone at a pressure of from 20 to 40 bar and at a temperature of from 60 to 90 DEG C with feed of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst system, and, in a second polymerisation zone, at a pressure of from 7 to 35 bar and a temperature of from 40 to 70 DEG C, a mixture of olefins is polymerised onto the finely divided polymer discharged from the first polymerisation zone, is characterised in that, in the second polymerisation zone, a mixture of propylene, ethylene and a further alpha -olefin having 4 to 10 carbon atoms is polymerised on at a ratio between the partial pressures of propylene and ethylene in the range of from 100 : 20 to 100 : 120 and at a ratio between the partial pressures of propylene and the alpha -olefin in the range from 100 : 1 to 100 : 20, the pressure in the second polymerisation zone is chosen to be at least 5 bar below the pressure in the first polymerisation zone, and the weight ratio between the monomers reacted in the first and second polymerisation zones is such that it is in a range between 100 : 10 and 100 : 50.

    Abstract: Randomly distributed propylene copolymers containing from 0.1 to 15 % by weight of copolymerised C2-C10-alk-1-enes and which have been grafted by means of alpha , beta -ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids or carboxylic acid derivatives and which are obtainable by reacting the graft monomer with the randomly distributed propylene copolymer at pressures of from 1 to 300 bar, where, in the presence of from 0.005 to 0.5 % by weight of an initiator which decomposes to form free radicals, from 0.01 to 1.0 % by weight of the monomer to be grafted on, where both concentrations are based on the randomly distributed propylene copolymer, is mixed with the molten, randomly distributed propylene copolymer, and the grafting reaction is carried out at from 200 to 350 DEG C.

    Abstract: The invention relates to the preparation of polymers of propene by means of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst system comprising (1) a titanium component which is based on a finely divided, shaping silica gel and contains titanium, magnesium, chlorine and a benzenecarboxylic acid derivative, (2) an aluminium component and (3) a silane component, characterised in that the titanium component (1) used is obtained by (1.1) first (I) preparing a carrier from (Ia) a silica gel, (Ib) an organomagnesium compound, (Ic) a gaseous chlorinating agent and (Id) a certain phthalic acid derivative, by (1.1.1) first reacting (Ia) with (Ib), (1.1.2) then passing (Ic) into the product from (1.1.1) and introducing the phthalic acid derivative (Id) and isolating (I), (1.2) then preparing a solid-phase intermediate from (I), (II) an alkanol, and (III) titanium tetrachloride by (1.2.1) first reacting (I) with (II), (1.2.2) subsequently introducing (III) into the product from (1.2.1), (1.3) then extracting the solid-phase product from (1.2) with titanium tetrachloride or a mixture of titanium tetrachloride and ethylbenzene, and (1.4) finally washing the solid-phase product from (1.3) with a liquid hydrocarbon.

    Abstract: A process for polymerizing C3-C10-alk-1-enes with the aid of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst system. A titanic solid component, which contains a compound of titanium, magnesium, a halogen and an electron donor compound (I), is first made to react with an aluminium compound and an additional electron donor compound (II). The reaction mixture is then inactivated by reaction with carbon dioxide. The catalyst system thus produced is then used, together with an aluminium compound, to polymerize C3-C10-alk-1-enes at temperatures of between 20 and 150 DEG C and pressures of between 1 and 100 bar, no further quantities of the electron donor compound (II) being needed for said polymerization.
