The novel fatliquoring agents are used in leather production and/or leather treatment, and leather is produced and/or treated using aqueous dispersions of these fatliquoring agents.

Abstract: The invention relates to a degreasing agent for treating skins, fur, limed skins and other intermediate products in leather and fur production, and for treating wool or related protein substances, based on non-ionic surfactants of the alcohol alcoxylate type. Alcohol alcoxylates are used which are obtained by reaction with at least one alcohol ROH with n mols of at least one alkylene oxide per mol of alcohol ROH, wherein R represents an alkyl radical containing between 5 and 30 carbon atoms, and having a main chain which contains between 4 and 29 carbon atoms and is branched in the centre thereof with at least one C1 - C10 alkyl radical; the alkylene oxide comprises between 2 and 6 carbon atoms; and n represents a whole number between 1 and 100. The invention also relates to a method for degreasing skins, fur, limed skins and other intermediate products in leather and fur production, and for treating wool or related protein substances, a degreasing agent according to the present invention being used. The invention further relates to the use of said degreasing agent.

Abstract: A semi-continuous process for the production of 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenylsulfone comprises reaction of phenol with a sulfonating agent and suspension of the resulting crude product in water at weight ratio of crude product to water of 85:15-55:45 at least 40 deg C, filtering of the product and recycling of the resulting educt- and/or product containing waste stream to the production process. A semi-continuous process for the production of 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenylsulfone comprises: (A) reaction of phenol with a sulfonating agent, (B) suspension of the resulting crude product in water at least 40 deg C which is free of inert organic solvent and optionally contains residual amounts of unreacted phenol, and filtering of the product and (C) recycling of the resulting educt- and/or product containing waste stream to the production process. In step (B) the weight ratio of crude product to water is 85:15-55:45.

Obteniéndose así, mezclas de ditiol que contienen de 55 a 65 moles % de evitro ditiol y 35 a 45 moles % treo-ditiol utilizadas para el tratamiento de pieles de animales muertos para eliminar sustancias córneas de las mismas.

Abstract: Procedimiento para eliminar sustancias córneas de pieles o pellejos animales muertos por tratamiento de las pieles o pieles de pellejo en un bano acuoso con uno o varios compuestos de la fórmula general (1) o sus correspondientes sales de metal alcalino o alcalinotérreo o sales de amonio o fosfonio, teniendo las variables las definiciones siguientes: R1 es seleccionado de entre hidrógeno o alquilo C1-12, no sustituido o sustituido por uno o varios grupos S-H u O-H; X1a X4 son radicales iguales o diferentes y son seleccionados de entre: hidrógeno, alquilo C1-4, O-H, S-H o N-HR2; R2 significa hidrógeno o alquilo C1-12 o un grupo alquilo C1-4, -C=O, siendo preciso, que cuando R1 contiene por lo menos un átomo de azufre, por lo menos uno de los radicales X1 a X4 signifique S-H; Y que cuando R1 no contiene ningún átomo de azufre, por lo menos dos de los radicales X1 a X4 signifiquen S-H. Pieles en tripa de animales obtenidas mediante el procedimiento descripto y cueros fabricados por curtición de dichas pieles en tripa. Banos residuales, que contienen ni Na2S ni NaHs y que contienen como compuestos de azufre orgánicos únicamente aquellos de la fórmula general (1), así como sus productos de reacción y derivados resultantes de la eliminación de las sustancias córneas y compuestos de azufre de pieles o pieles de pellejo de animales muertos.
