    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based ink for ink-jet recording which is excellent in the storage stability and also in water resistance. SOLUTION: The water-based ink comprises such a water dispersion of vinyl polymer particles as containing a pigment and the water-insoluble vinyl polymer particle which is formed by copolymerizing a monomer mixture containing; (a) a salt forming group-containing monomer, (b) a 16-30C long chain alkyl group-containing monomer, (c) a macromer and (d) a polyoxyalkylene group-containing monomer and (e) a monomer which is copolymerizable with (a) the salt forming group-containing monomer, (b) the long chain alkyl-containing monomer , (c) the macromer and (d) the polyoxyalkylene group-containing monomer.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a (meth)acrylic acid copolymer low in the content of highly hygroscopic impurities and preventing a powdery detergent including the copolymer from discoloration, and to provide a method for producing the copolymer. SOLUTION: The method for producing the (meth)acrylic acid (co)polymer comprises polymerizing a monomer, essentially i.e. acrylic acid, methacrylic acid or salt(s) thereof using a persulfate and bisulfite in the presence of a water-soluble metal salt at ≤50°C. The (meth)acrylic acid copolymer thus obtained has the following characteristics: the content of a byproduct formed by addition of the bisulfite to the (meth)acrylic acid ( salt ) is ≥1 pt. mass based on 100 pts. mass of the (co)polymer, the content of a hydroquinone compound is ≥0.02 pt. mass based on 100 pts. mass of the (co)polymer, and the drying characteristic parameter defined by a specific formula is ≤75%.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an acrylic acid-based polymer which is not colored, even when subjected to a heat history comprising heating and drying the acrylic acid-based polymer obtained by a polymerization in the presence of a redox initiator and an alkali preparation solution containing an inorganic salt such as sodium carbonate, sodium sulfite, sodium sulfate, zeolite, or sodium chloride in a process for producing a detergent composition.
    SOLUTION: This method for producing the acrylic acid-based polymer comprises polymerizing monomers containing acrylic acid or its salt containing a quinone compound as a polymerization inhibitor in the presence of a redox initiator, and then reducing the content of the quinone compound until the content of the quinone compound contained in the obtained acrylic polymer becomes ≤20 mg per kg of the acrylic acid constituting the acrylic polymer.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain particles having a narrow particle diameter distribution and each having a hydrophobic surface by subjecting a vinyl monomer to dispersion polymerization in at least one solvent selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbon solvents and silicone solvents in the presence of a dispersant comprising an aminated silicone. SOLUTION: The dispersant used comprises an aminated silicone having a modifying group represented by the formula (wherein n is 3 to 20; and A and B are each H, a 1-22C hydrocarbon group, a 1-22C aminoalkyl, etc.), such as a 3-aminopropyl group, with an amine equivalent of 300-50,000 g/mol and a viscosity (25 deg.C) of 50-100 cSt. At least one solvent selected from hydrocarbon solvents, such as hexane and toluene, and silicone solvents is mixed with a vinyl monomer, such as an alkyl acrylate, in an amount sufficient to provide a concentration of 2-30 wt.%, an aminated silicone dispersant in an amount of 0.1-20 wt.% based on the monomer, a polymerization initiator comprising, e.g. lauroyl peroxide in an amount of 0.1-10 wt.%, and a chain transfer agent, and the mixture is subjected to dispersion polymerization at room temperature to 150 deg.C to give polymer particles having a diameter of 0.3-20 μm.
