Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the titled resin expressed by a specific formula, giving a cured product having high flexural strength and heat-deformation temperature and low elastic modulus, etc., and useful as an adhesive, paint, sealant, molding material, varnish, laminated sheet, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective epoxy resin is expressed by formula I [R1-R3 are group of formula II (R' and R'' are H, halogen, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy)]. The resin can be produced by reacting (A) 1mol of a trisphenol of formula III (R1'-R3' are group of formula IV) with (B) 3-30mol of an epihalohydrin or beta-methylepihalohydrin (preferably epichlorohydrin).

Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:A polycyclic acetal compound having characteristically two or more aryl group-substituted methylenedioxy groups shown by the formula I (X is NH2, or amino group-containing lower alkyl; R is H, or lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, or halogen). EXAMPLE:3,9-Bis(4-aminophenyl)-2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro[5,5]undecane. USE:Useful as a curing agent for epoxy resins, and useful for preparing a cured epoxy resin having high strength, flexibility, and further chemical resistance. PREPARATION:In the presence of an oxidizing catalyst, 1mol tetrahydric or more hydric aliphatic polyhydric alcohol is reacted with >=2mol arylaldehyde shown by the formula II or formula III (Y is nitro, etc.; Z is cyano, etc.), and the reaction product is reduced to give a compound shown by the formula I .

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mandrel for producing a hose, pref., a rubber hose, especially, excellent in the releasability from the rubber hose immediately after vulcanization, avoided from the shift and peeling of a coating layer caused by the shearing stress generated when the mandrel is pulled out of the rubber hose immediately after vulcanization, capable of withstanding long-term use and having high rigidity under high temp. SOLUTION: In a mandrel for producing a hose wherein a rod-shaped core material composed of a resin with an m.p. of 180 deg.C or higher and thermal deforming temp. (a value measured under load of 4.6 kg/cm according to ASTM D-648) of 150 deg.C or higher is coated with a resin layer with a thickness of 1mm or more composed of 4-methyl-1-penten polymer, a means preventing the shift peeling of the core material and the coating layer caused by shearing stress inevitably acting on the mandrel at a time of use is provided between the surface of the core material of the mandrel and the coating layer.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a compsn. having improved impact strength, transparency, and heat resistance by subjecting two specific cycloolefin random copolymers to a free-radical reaction with each other. CONSTITUTION:A 2C or higher alpha-olefin (a), a cycloolefin (b) of formula I or II, and a diene compd. (c), if necessary, are copolymerized to give a cycloolefin random copolymer (A) having an intrinsic viscosity (eta, 135 deg.C) of 0.1-5.0dl/g and a glass transition point (Tg, DSC) of 70-200 deg.C, 60-99wt.% copolymer A is subjected to a free-radical reaction with 40-1wt.% copolymer (B) obtd. by copolymerizing the above-mentioned monomers (a), (b) and (c) and having an etaof 0.1-10.0dl/g and a Tg of 30-10 deg.C in the presence of an org. peroxide and as necessary in the presence of a radical-polymerizable polyfunctional monomer, giving a compsn. which has such melt flow properties that the MFR after the reaction, MFR (1), and that just after blended, MFR (2), satisfy the formula III.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a new polyamide having excellent transparency, heat resistance and chemical resistance, especially chemical resistance to ethanol by bringing an alicyclic dicarboxylic acid of a specific structure into contact with a diamine. CONSTITUTION:An alicyclic dicarboxylic acid of formula I (R to R are H, halogen, etc.; R is bifunctional hydrocarbon) is brought into contact with a diamine of the formula N2N-R -NH2 (e.g. tetramethylenediamine) to give the objective polymer having a repeating unit of formula II. For example, 3,5- tricyclo[5.2.1.0 ]decanedicarboxylic acid obtained by oxidizing tetracyclo[4.4.0.1 .1 ]-3-dodecene as a cyclic olefin while subjecting to ring opening reaction may be cited as the compound of formula I. To be concrete, a dicarboxylic acid component A and a diamine component B, for example, are reacted by a method for preparing nylon salts of both the components and subjecting to melt polymerization or by a method for preparing an oligomer from the components A and B and subjecting the oligomer to melt polymerization.

At least two monomers selected from the group consisting of the 2C or higher alpha-olefin, the cycloolefin of formula I or II, and the diene compd. are copolymerized in the presence of the random copolymer to give a hydrocarbon elastomer having a glass transition temperature of 10 deg.C or lower and a content of the random copolymer of 50-99wt.%.
