    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a resin compsn. having improved dimensional stability, flexibility and adhesion to substrates while retaining excellent heat resistance and electrical characteristics, containing an aliph. imide and polybutadiene having double bonds. CONSTITUTION:A curable resin compsn. contains an aliph. imide of formulaI [wherein D is a group of formula II, III or IV (wherein R is H, halogen, OH, CN, NO2, a 1-20C hydrocarbon group), a group of formula V, VI, VII, VIII or IX (wherein R1 is H, a 1-20C hydrocarbon group), m is 0, 1, 2; Q is an l-valent aliph. ether group having a formula weight of 295 or below; l is 1, 2]and polybutadiene having double bonds such as 1,2-polybutadiene. This compsn. is soluble in general-purpose low-boiling org. solvents. Prepregs can be easily prepd. from this compsn. The compsn. has excellent heat resistance and electrical characteristics, and improved dimensional stability, flexibility and adhesion to substrates.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the titled compsn. which gives cured articles having flexibility and excellent heat resistance, consisting of two specified kinds of imide compds. and an amino compd. CONSTITUTION:2-99wt% aliph. imide (A) of formulaI(wherein D1 is a group of formula II, III or IV [wherein R1 is H, halogen a 1-20C hydrocarbon group, R2O, a group of formula V, VI or VII, OH, cyano, nitro; R2 is a 1-20C hydrocarbon group which may be substituted with halogen); Q1 is an l1-valent aliph. ether group having a formula weight of 295 or below; l1 is 1 or more], 98- 1wt% imide (B) of formula VIII (wherein D2 is D1; Q2 is an l2-valent org. group; l2 is 1 or more) other than component A, and an amino compd. (C) of formula IX (wherein Z is an m-valent org. group; m is 1 or more) are blended together in such a proportion as to give a ratio of the number of total imido groups in components A and B to that of total amino groups in component C of 0.01-1. The mixture is reacted at 0-200 deg.C for 5min to 10hr.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an antifouling paint which inhibits adhesion of aquatic organisms to fishing nets, ship bottom and underwater sturctures and the growth thereof, containing a specified maleamic acid. CONSTITUTION:A prim. amine or a polyamine is reacted with maleic anhydride of formulaI(wherein X, Y are each H, halogen, methyl, methoxy, acetoxy, phenyl) in an org. solvent to produce a maleamic acid of formula II, wherein R is a 2-80C n-valent org. group; n is 1-10. Then up to 40wt%, pref. 1-30wt% above maleamic acid is blended with an antifouling paint consisting of a vehicle such as oil varnish or an acrylic resin, a filler, a colorant, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:A resin resulting from the reaction between a specific aralkyl compound and phenol is made to react with an alkaline earth metal oxide or other compounds at high temperatures to produce the titled modified resin with high heat resistance, wearing resistance, chemical resistance and electrical properties. CONSTITUTION:An aralkyl compound of the formula (R is 1-6C alkyl, 2-6C acyl; n is 1,2), preferably alpha,alpha'-dimethoxy-p-xylene, is made to react with a phenol, preferably at a molar ratio of 1.3-3 at 70-200 deg.C. The resultant resin is mixed with an oxide or hydroxide and/or carbonate of an alkaline earth metal at a temperature higher than the softening point of the resin to effect the reaction, thus producing the objective resin.

    Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:An isopropenylphenyl maleimide derivative of formula I (R is H, halogen or 1-4C alkyl; n is 1-4), and the dimer of an isopropenylphenyl maleimide derivative of formula II (R' is R; n' is n; D is III or IV). EXAMPLE:p-Isopropenylphenyl maleimide and 2,4-bis(p-maleimidophenyl)-4-methyl-1-pentene. USE:Pesticide, vulcanization accelerator, paint, heat-resistint adhesive, electrical insulating material, solventless varnish, and raw material of heat-resistant resin such as casting resin, laminating resin, etc. PROCESS:The compound I or II is prepared by reacting an isopropenylphenyl maleamidic acid derivative of formula V or the dimer of an isopropenylphenyl maleimide derivative of formula VI with a dehydrating agent.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare the title compound useful as a raw material of excellent thermosetting resins, adhesives etc., easily, econimically, in high yield, suppressing the tar-producing side reactions as low as possible, from specific amino phenol compound and maleic anhydride. CONSTITUTION:N-(Hydroxyphenyl)maleimide III (R1-5 are OH, -H, -F, -CI, -Br, -I, -CH3, -C2H5; at least one of R1-5 is -OH) is prepared by the dehydrative cyclization of N-(hydroxyphenyl)maleamic acid II, in the presence of a dehydrating agent selcted from oxide, oxyalide, alkali metal salt of oxyacid, and alkaline earth metal salt of oxyacid of sulfur and phosphorus, at 0-150 deg.C, pref. 50-80 deg.C, for 1-5 hours. The compound II is prepared from an aminophenol I , e.g. 2-methyl-p- aminophenol, and maleic anhydride.
