Abstract: Un procedimiento para proporcionar una dirección de red pública para un dispositivo local (125) en una red privada (130) a un dispositivo remoto (105) utilizando un servidor (115) de nombres de dominio especializado, que comprende los pasos de: recibir en el servidor (115) de nombres de dominio especializado una petición para que el dispositivo local (125) se comunique con el dispositivo remoto (105), en el que la citada petición identifica al dispositivo local (125) usando un nombre de dominio; recuperar en el servidor de nombres de dominio especializado la dirección IP correspondiente del dispositivo local en la red privada (130); generar una petición subsiguiente para que el dispositivo local (125) se comunique con el servidor (115) de nombres de dominio especializado, en el que se utiliza la dirección IP del dispositivo local; transmitir la citada petición subsiguiente desde el servidor (115) de nombres de dominio especializado a un traductor (120) de direcciones de red; recibir una dirección de la red pública para el dispositivo local (125) generada por el citado traductor (120) de direcciones de red como respuesta a recibir la citada petición subsiguiente; generar en el servidor de nombres de dominio especializado una respuesta a la citada petición para que el dispositivo local (125) se comunique con el dispositivo remoto (105), incluyendo la respuesta generada la citada dirección de red pública para el dispositivo local (125); y transmitir por medio del servidor de nombres de dominio especializado la citada respuesta generada al citado dispositivo remoto (105).

El RUM puede indicar un numero de recursos seleccionados por el nodo para el uso subsiguiente y puede ser transmitido a uno o mas otros nodos.

Abstract: In a wireless communication system, a method and apparatus of communicating between at least one base station and a core network is claimed. Signaling messages and voice streams are transported using packet-switched protocols (IP). A CIC field (Circuit Identity Code) is used to identify at least one VoIP streams. The CIC field may be interpreted as a UDP port number for the voice over IP stream. Also, a synchronization source or contributing source filed of a RTP header may be used as the CIC field.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for distributing wireless network access parameters in a multi-mode communications user terminal (UT). The method includes: establishing a link between a UT and a first communications network (i.e., a cellular network); accessing a parameters server via the first network; downloading access parameters for a wireless, second communications network (i.e., a Wireless Local Area Network); and, using the downloaded access parameters to establish a wireless link between the UT and the second communications network. The downloaded access parameters may include information such as a security key, Service Set IDentifier (SSID), traffic channel allocation, and optimization parameters including transmit power, quality of service (QoS) settings, and operational mode. Alternately, the database may cross-reference UT ID to parameters such as QoS, IP address, gateway information, subnet mask, Domain Name Server (DNS) information, or geographical location.

Abstract: Handoff between a wireless LAN and a cellular communication system is provided. A system is designed to provide nomadic cellular services including voice over I.E.E.E. 802.11. An 802.11 network is used as long as the voice quality is likely to be acceptable. Voice quality is measured and maintained to be at an acceptable level. If voice quality degrades below an acceptable level the design allows seamless call hand-off between the 802.11 and a CDMA 1xRTT network, for example.

Abstract: A general global gateway (GGG) internetworks between a first network and a second network so that a mobile station having a subscription in a first network can roam into a second network and be authenticated to use the second network. If it does, then the GGG accesses the first network and stores authentication information from the first network for subsequent accesses to the first network by the mobile station.
