THE CIPHER KEY IS THEN COMMUNICATED TO THE FIRST MOBILE SYSTEM AND A PRIVATE LONG CODE IS GENERATED FOR USE BY THE MOBILE STATION (40) DURING COMMUNICATION IN THE FIRST CELLULAR COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM.(FIG 4)

Abstract: Un método para utilizar una clave de cifrado en una estación móvil procedente de una primera estación base en un primer sistema celular de comunicaciones controlado por una primera estación móvil para el control de la conmutación a una segunda estación base en un segundo sistema celular, diferente, controlado por una segunda estación móvil para el control de la conmutación. El método comprende generar para la estación móvil una clave de cifrado destinada a ser utilizada por la estación móvil durante la comunicación en el segundo sistema celular de comunicaciones. La clave de cifrado es generada por la estación móvil a partir de una clave privada asignada a la estación móvil para el segundo sistema celular de comunicaciones y a partir de un número aleatorio generado por el segundo sistema celular de comunicaciones. La clave de cifrado es seguidamente comunicada al primer sistema móvil; y se genera un código largo privado destinado a ser utilizado por la estación móvil durante la comunicación en el primer sistema celular de comunicaciones.

Abstract: A method of authenticating a mobile station (18) from a first base station (12) in a first cellular communications system controlled by a first mobile switching control station (10) to a second base station (14) in a second, different cellular system controlled by a second mobile switching control station is described. The method comprises generating at the second cellular communication system an authentication code as the result of applying an algorithm to a private key assigned to the mobile station for the second cellular communications system and a random number generated by the second cellular communications system. An authentication code is also generated at the first cellular communication system as the result of applying an algorithm to the private key and the random number. The authentication code generated at the first cellular communication system is then transmitted to a mobile station in a data packet, and, from there, the authentication code is transmitted to the second cellular communication system. The authentication code generated at the first cellular communications system is then compared with the authentication code generated at the second cellular communications system.

Abstract: In a wireless communication system, a method and apparatus of communicating between at least one base station and a core network is claimed. Signaling messages and voice streams are transported using packet-switched protocols (IP). A CIC field (Circuit Identity Code) is used to identify at least one VoIP streams. The CIC field may be interpreted as a UDP port number for the voice over IP stream. Also, a synchronization source or contributing source filed of a RTP header may be used as the CIC field.

El método comprende generar en el segundo sistema celular de comunicaciones un código de autenticación como resultado de la aplicación de un algoritmo a una clave privada asignada a la estación móvil para el segundo sistema celular de comunicaciones y a un número aleatorio generado por el segundo sistema celular de comunicaciones. También es generado un código de autenticación en el primer sistema celular de comunicaciones como resultado de la aplicación de un algoritmo a la clave privada y al número aleatorio. El código de autenticación generado en el primer sistema celular de comunicaciones es seguidamente transmitido a una estación móvil en un paquete de datos, y, desde el mismo, el código de autenticación es transmitido al segundo sistema celular de comunicaciones. El código de autenticación generado en el primer sistema celular de comunicaciones es entonces comparado con el código de autenticación generado en el segundo sistema celular de comunicaciones.

Abstract: A scheme is provided for conserving power in client terminals and/or reducing latency in wireless systems by using a proxy device. The client terminal may have a primary communication interface for communications with an access node and a secondary communication interface to communicate with the proxy device. The client terminal may indicate to the access node a short cycle rate for monitoring its signaling/control channel(s). The client terminal may the power off its primary communication interface without informing the access node. Prior to powering off its primary communication interface the client terminal may assign the proxy device to act as its proxy and monitor the signaling/control channel with the access node. The proxy device monitors the signaling/control channel(s) according to the indicated short cycle rate. Upon detection of a message for the client terminal the proxy device forwards the message to the client terminal via a secondary communication interface.

Abstract: A method of using a ciphering key in a mobile station (18) from a first base station (12) in a first cellular communications system controlled by a first mobile switching control (10) station to a second base station in a second, different cellular system controlled by a second mobile switching control station is described. The method comprises generating for the mobile station a cipher key for use by the mobile station during communication in the second cellular communications system. The cipher key is generated by the mobile station from a private key assigned to the mobile station for the second cellular communications system and from a random number generated by the second cellular communications system. The cipher key is then communicated to the first mobile system and a private long code is generated for use by the mobile station during communication in the first cellular communications system.
