Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the titled compsn. having excellent adhesion and resistance to low-temperature impact and heat cycles, consisting of a specified copolyester and a modified olefin polymer. CONSTITUTION:15-45% (by mol; the same applies hereinbelow), 35-5% arom. and/or alicyclic dicarboxylic acid other than terephthalic acid and 0-25% 6-40C aliph. dicarboxylic acid are reacted with 15-50% 1,4-butanediol and 35-0% at least one diol selected from the group consisting of ethylene glycol, 1,6-hexanediol and neopentyl glycol to obtain a copolyester (A) having a relative viscosity of 1.1-2.0 (in 0-chlorophenol soln. of 0.5wt% carboxylic acid (derivative) is grafted onto a hydrogenated copolymer having an MI of 0.5-200g/10min, composed of a conjugated diene or a mixture of said conjugated diene with an arom. vinyl hydrocarbon, to obtain a modified olefin polymer (B). 100pts.wt. component A is blended with 0.5-30pts.wt. component B and 0.01-3pts.wt. nucleating agent (C) having a particle size of not larger than 5mu.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the rigidity, impact resistance, moldability and appearance of a molding without detriment to balance among them, by mixing a thermoplastic polyester with modified polyphenylene sulfide and a glycidyl group- containing olefin copolymer. CONSTITUTION:A resin composition formed by mixing 100pts.wt. thermoplastic polyester (A) with 1-100pts.wt. polyphenylene sulfide (B) modified by treatment with acid and/or hot water (>=80 deg.C) and 0.5-80pts.wt. glycidyl group-containing olefin copolymer. When the degree of polymerization of the thermoplastic polyester used is excessively high, a molding of good surface gloss can not be obtained, white when it is excessively low, sufficient mechanical properties can not be attained. This composition is usually preferred to have an intrinsic viscosity of 0.5-1.3 (as measured in a 0.5% o-chlorophenol solution at 25 deg.C).

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled high polymerization degree formed article outstanding in heat and solvent resistances and mechanical strength, by using an aromatic copolyester of specified viscosity constituted by isophthalic acid, terephthalic acid and bisphenol S units. CONSTITUTION:The objective formed article can be obtained by using an aromatic copolyester constituted by structural units of formulae I, II and III, respectively, with the molar ratio of the units III/II of 1/9-6/4, having a logarithmic viscosity >=0.55 determined in the form of an orthochlorophenol solution of a concentration 0.5g/dl at 25 deg.C. Sad aromatic copolyester can be prepared, for example, by the following process: first, isophthaloyl dichloride and terephthaloyl dichloride are dissolved in a solvent prepared by distillation and purification, in the presence of 0.1-10wt% of isophthaloyl dichloride and/or terephthaloyl dichloride, of methylene dichloride. Following that, the resultant organic solvent solution and an aqueous NaOH solution of bisphenol S treated at 60-80 deg.C for 0.1-5hr are brought to interfacial polycondensation using as a catalyst a phosphonium salt.

CONSTITUTION:The objective formed article can be obtained by using an aromatic polyester constituted by structural unit of formula, with a logarithmic viscosity >=0.45 determined in the form of an orthochlorophenol solution of a concentration 0.5g/dl at 25 deg.C. Said aromatic polyester can be prepared, for example, by the following process: first isophthaloyl dichloride is dissolved in a solvent prepared by distillation and purification, in the presence of 0.1-10wt% of isophthaloyl dichloride or terephthaloyl dichloride, of methylene dichloride. Following that, the resultant organic solvent solution and an aqueous alkaline solution of bisphenol S treated at 60-80 deg.C for 0.1-5hr are brought to interfacial polycondensation using as a catalyst a phosphonium salt.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled high-polymerization degree polyester outstanding in solvent and heat resistances and mechanical properties by interfacial polycondensation with a dicarboxylic acid dichloride, using each specific bisphenol and organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:First, (A) an organic solvent for the polycondensation is prepared by mixing 0.1-10pts.wt. of isophthaloyl dichloride and/or terephthaloyl dichloride with 100pts.wt. of a 1-10C halogenated hydrocarbon of a boiling point >=35 deg.C followed by distillation. Next, (b) isophthaloyl dichloride and/or terephthaloyl dichloride is dissolved in the resultant organic solvent to make an organic solvent solution of a concentration pref. 1-40wt%. This solution is then incorporated with (C) an aqueous alkali solution of bisphenol >=50mol% of which is bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)sulfone, with a concentration e.g. 1-30wt% followed by polycondensation at (T-15)-(T+15) deg.C (T being the boiling point of the component A), thus obtaining the objective polyester.

CONSTITUTION:A composition is prepd. by adding 5-250pts.wt. filler to 100pts. wt. thermoplastic polyester and 0.001-5pts.wt. coupling agent is further added to 1000pts.wt. of the composition to obtain a thermoplastic polyester resin composition. This composition is molded and the molded article is successively treated with an acidic chromic acid soln. and with an alkali soln. to roughen the surface. The roughened surface is metallized by plating.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition having differential flame resistance imparted to a thermoplastic resin, and also capable of manifesting excellent mechanical characteristics and thermal resistance by compounding a phosphorus- based flame retardant and a small amount of a liquid crystal resin to the thermoplastic resin. SOLUTION: This composition comprises (A) 100 pts.wt. rubber-reinforced styrenic resin, (B) 1-50 pts.wt. phosphorus-based flame retardant (preferably an ammonium polyphosphate, a phosphate or the like), and (C) 0.01-10 pt.wt. liquid crystal resin comprising a structural unit of formula I, a structural unit of formula II (R1 is 4,4'-diphenyl or the like), a structural unit of formula III and a structural unit of formula IV (R2 is 1,4-phenyl or the like), and regulated so that the molar ratio of the units of formulas I/II may be (70/30)-(95/5), the molar ratio of the units of formulas II/III may be (5/95)-(30/70), and the amount of the unit of formula IV may be substantially the same mol as that of the total of the units of formulas II and III. As the result, the problem of imparting flame resistance is solved, and the composition is expected to be used for the usage such as electric or electronic parts, automotive parts and office automation apparatuses.

SOLUTION: This compsn. is prepd. by compounding 100 pts.wt. thermoplastic resin (pref. a polyester resin, a polyamide resin, or a styrenic resin) with 0.1-30 pts.wt. bromine flame retardant pref. comprising at least one compd. selected from among a brominated PS, a brominated polyphenylene ether, and a brominated polycarbonate and 0.01-10 pts.wt. free radical generator pref. having at least either an -O-O- bond or a -C-C- bond and/or having a 1-min half-life temp. of 200 deg.C or higher. Pref., the free radical generator is a compd. of formula I, pref. formula II, still pref. formula III, or a compd. of formula IV. In the formulas, R to R are each H or a 1-10C monovalent org. residue provided R to R may be substd. by at least one -OOH group.
