SOLUTION: The aromatic polyamide film has a thickness T of 2-4 μm and also has holes or through-holes with a depth of 0.9T or more and a maximum diameter of 0.1 mm or more accompanied by foreign matter different from a polyamide constituting the aromatic polyamide film in composition and the total presence density of the holes or through-holes is not more than 0.005/m .

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a long-time recording with reduced drop-outs to be performed by setting the Ra value of the one side surface of a film into a specific range, the Young's modulus both in the longitudinal and in a breadthwise directions to be not smaller than a specific value, and the number of pin holes present in the film to be not larger than a specific value. SOLUTION: The Ra value of the one side surface of a film is set to be 1-5 nm, preferably, 2-4 nm. The Young's modulus in the longitudinal and a breadthwise directions of the film is set to be not smaller than 10,000 MPa, preferably, 11,000-25,000 MPa. The number of pin holes present in the film is set to be 7/1,000 m2 or smaller, preferably, 1-5/1,000 m2 or smaller. Furthermore, the number of dent-shaped defects of the surface of one side is set to be 100/1,000 m2 or smaller, preferably, 20-80/1,000 m2 or smaller. A resin for forming the film is preferably an aromatic polyamide or aromatic polyimide which becomes a high modulus of elasticity film because of a molecular orientation.
