Abstract: A window regulator system has a first rail (20) and a second rail (22). The second rail is spaced in a parallel relation with the first rail. A first slider assembly (30) slidably engages the first rail (32) and a second slide r assembly slidably engages the second rail. A first cable (W1) engages the first slider (30) and has opposite ends thereof wound about a first drum assembly (76). The first cable (W1) is guidedly mounted on the first rail (20). A second cable (W2) engages the second slider and has opposite ends thereof wound about a second drum assembly (78). The second cable is guidedl y mounted on the second rail (22). A drive system (24) simultaneously rotates the first and second drum assemblies. Rotating the first and second drum assemblies effects parallel movement of the first and second sliders. When a window is mounted on the sliders, the window regulator system effects openin g and closing thereof.

Abstract: A pinch sensing arrangement (10) for a motor vehicle power liftgate (12) mounted to the body (16) of the motor vehicle (14) and driven by a drive mechanism (20) between an open position and a closed position. The pinch sensing arrangement (10) includes a mounting track (24), a sensor (22) and a control module (26). The mounting track (24) is attached to the liftgate (12 ). The sensor (22) is attached to the mounting track (24) and elongated along a t least one of the lateral sides (28,30) of the liftgate (12). The sensor (22) is operative for generating an electrical signal when compressed. The contro l module (26) is in electrical communication with the sensor (22) and is adapt ed to control the drive mechanism (20) to articulate the liftgate (12) to the open position upon receiving the electrical signal.

Abstract: A power striker mechanism (10) has a housing (16) adapted for mounting on a vehicle. A striker assembly (12) is mounted to the housing and constrained t o slide between an inboard and outboard position. An outer link (42) is pivotally attached to the striker assembly (12). An inner link (48) is pivotally attached to the housing (16) and pivotally attached to the outer link (42). A cinching mechanism (14) linkably connects the inner (48) and outer links (42). Driving movement of the cinching mechanism (14) effects th e inboard and outboard movement of the striker assembly (12). The driving movement is generally perpendicular to the inboard outboard movement of the striker assembly (12) thereby isolating the cinching mechanism (14) from loa ds imparted to the striker assembly (12).

Abstract: A power striker mechanism (10) has a housing (22). A striker (18) is mounted on a striker plate (20) that is mounted on the housing for sliding movement between an inboard and an outboard position. A driver plate (44) is mounted to the housing for sliding movement in a direction orthogonal to the movement o f the striker plate (20). An actuator (16) effects movement of the driver plat e (44) to thereby effect movement of the striker plate (20) between the inboar d and outboard positions. The striker plate (20) has a pin (36) and the driver plate has an S-shaped slot (42). The pin slidably engages the S-shaped slot. The S-shaped slot has end regions extending generally parallel to each other and in the orthogonal direction and is interconnected by a diagonally extending section. When the pin (36) is in the end regions of the S-shaped slot, forces imparted on the striker plate (20) are transmitted to the housi ng (22) and thereby preventing backlash of the actuator (16). When the pin (36) is in the diagonally extending section, movement of the drive plate (44) effects movement of the striker plate (20).

Abstract: A latch assembly (10) has a housing having a mouth. A ratchet (12) is pivotally mounted to the housing and is movable to cooperate with the mouth to pivot between an open condition, a primary closed condition and a secondary closed condition for receiving, engaging and cinching a keeper of a striker. The ratchet (12) is biased to the open condition. A pivotally mounted pawl (40) is biased into engagement with the ratchet for releasably retaining the ratchet in the primary closed condition. A secondary release arm (20) is mounted to rotate about a first axis and a second axis. The secondary releas e arm (20) is rotatable about the first axis between a retracted position and an extended position, and is rotatable out the second axis between an engaging position and a disengaging position. The secondary release arm (20) is biase d to the retracted position and biased to the engaging position. The secondary release arm (20) interengages with the ratchet (12) for coupled movement therewith from the primary closed condition to the secondary closed conditio n effecting movement of the secondary release arm (20) from the retracted position to the extended position upon the pawl (40) being rotated to disengage from the ratchet (12). Upon moving the secondary release arm (20) from the engaging positionto the disengaging position, the secondary release arm (20) disengages from the ratchet (12) for independent movement enabling the ratchet (12) to rotate from the secondary closed condition to the open condition and back to the primary closed condition. The secondary release ar m (20) also rotates from the extended position to the retracted position.

Abstract: A vehicle door latch assembly is movable between an unlocked condition, a locked condition and a double locked condition. The door latch assembly (10) has a support housing (16) with a cover having a projecting block. A ratchet (18) is mounted to the support housing between a latched position and an unlatched position. A pawl (26) is mounted to the support housing (16) and i s movable between a blocking position securing the ratchet (18) in the latched position and a release position permitting the ratchet to pivot toward the unlatched position. A release mechanism (32) is mounted to the support housi ng (16) for moving the pawl (26) into the release position. A slider (36) is coupled between the pawl (26) and the release mechanism (32). The slider (36 ) moves between an engaged position aligned with the release mechanism and a disengaged position spaced from the release mechanism. A locking mechanism (42) is pivotally connected to the support housing and pitotally engaging th e slider for providing the sliding movement of the slider. An inside lock leve r (62) engages the locking mechanism (42) for rotating the locking mechanism, effecting movement of the slider (36) between the unlocked condition and the first locked position.

A flange (108) extends from th e housing across the ratchet (38) to limit the pivotal movement of the ratchet (38) about the roller axis.

Abstract: A vehicle door module (10) has a hardware sub-module (14, 114) and a trim su b- module (12). The hardware sub-module (14, 114) includes a structural carrier plate (54) containing hardware mounting surfaces. The carrier plate (54) has an upper body panel (62) and a bifurcated lower body portion comprising two legs (64, 66) extending from the upper body panel in opposite directions. Do or hardware (56, 58) is mounted on the mounting surfaces. A window regulator assembly (60) is mounted on the structural carrier plate (54). The trim sub- module (12) is mounted to the hardware sub-module. The trim sub-module (12) has a trim panel (18), a water barrier (24) film and a wiring harness. The water barrier film is contoured to extend about and seal a periphery of the trim panel (18). A portion of the wire harness (26) is sealed to the water barrier (24) and connectors of the wiring harness extend from the trim sub- module (12) at predetermined locations. The carrier plate (54) is sized to b e fitted in both a long low profile door and a short high profile door while t he trim sub-module (12) is customized to fit onto one of the door styles.
