    Abstract: The grid is biased to a regeneration potential distinctly greater than the nominal potential and the cathode is biased to a nominal potential corresponding to a maximum emission. The rows (L) of the grid are addressed in sequence during a nominal time during which the cathode columns (K) are individually addressed. At least one row, perhaps all, of the grid is biased to a the regeneration potential and all the cathode columns are at the maximum emission potential for a regeneration time distinctly greater than the nominal time. The rows are addressed by a pulsed signal (Hreg) whose mark is distinctly longer than the nominal time and distinctly shorter than the space time to avoid overheating.

    Abstract: The anode includes electrode bands (17) each of which incorporates a resistive band (18) which is a transparent electrically conducting non-stoichiometric oxide, esp. indium tin oxide, fixed by the quantity of oxygen contained in the oxide. Associated with each band are two parallel polarisation bands (19) on either side and joining to the conductor connecting the electrodes. Phosphor bands (7) are deposited onto the resistive bands. The polarisation and resistive bands may be of the same material but with the polarisation band having lower resistivity. An insulator (8) separating the electrode bands serves as a mask to increase the resistivity of the resistance bands by heat treatment in an atmosphere of oxygen. Alternatively, the thickness of the material may vary the resistivity with the insulator acting as a etching mask. Three such assemblies are used to mfr. a colour screen.

    Abstract: The screen has cathodes (1) organised in columns (28) to bombard a phosphor anode. The rows (21) of a first grid (20) are addressed sequentially during a period when the combs (24,25) of a second grid (23) are addressed alternately to form an interlaced image. The cathode columns are addressed simultaneously with each row at a potential to determine the brightness for a pixel defined by the comb addressed within the current row. The bias potential on the combs is chosen so that the electrons emitted by the cathode directly below the comb tracks (26,27) are such that the unaddressed tracks collect the electrons. The focusing potential for a track is greater than that of the unaddressed rows of the first grid while that of the collector is less. Three such assemblies are used to provide a colour display.
