PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for providing a broadcasting service are provided to enable a user to suitably select and consume a service or contents suitable for a consuming environment of a terminal. CONSTITUTION: A metadata generator(304) generates contents representation metadata to describe a possible expression of contents. An output unit(306) outputs the contents representation metadata. The contents representation metadata includes at least one content representations description element. At least content representations description element is defined by a metadata tool defined by the standards.
Abstract:
A method for inferring and estimating a wireless channel state using an observation parameter and a method for inducing a bit error rate/parameter inference model are provided to improve the error recovery by inferring and estimating the bit error rate of a reception data packet by using an observation parameter. An observation parameter for estimating a channel state is determined from one data packet received through a wireless channel(400). A BER(Bit Error Rate) for the reception data packet based on the determined observation parameter is estimated(406). The estimated BER is fed back to a transmission side.
Abstract:
A system and a method for tracking gaze are provided to increase the accuracy of small and inexpensive equipment, and respond to vertical movement of a user pupil sensitively in a terminal equipped with a display device. An image obtaining module(100) obtains a user eye image refracted to 45 angular degrees by irradiating infrared to the eyes of a user and refracting the lighted user eye image to 45 angular degrees. An image processing module(210) obtains a central point of the pupil in the user eye image by operating a selected algorithm and maps the central point of the pupil to a display screen plane of a display device(300) through a predetermined conversion function. The image obtaining module includes an infrared lighting unit(110) irradiating the infrared to the eyes, an infrared refractor(120) refracting the eye image lighted by the infrared, and a small camera(130) capturing the eye image refracted to 45 angular degrees. The image obtaining module is installed to at least one of glasses, a safety goggle, a helmet, and a supporter.

PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for protecting constituent elements of a digital broadcasting program using an MPEG-4 system are provided to control illegal access to various contents to be provided in a digital broadcasting environment. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for protecting constituent elements of a digital broadcasting program includes a transport stream analyzer(100), a data generator(300), a multiplexer(500), and a controller(400). The transport stream analyzer analyzes a transport stream including the constituent elements to extract a corresponding program map table. The data generator generates an intellectual property management and protection descriptor for protecting the program constituent elements, an object descriptor for connecting the IPMP descriptor with a specific interval of the program constituent elements, and a new program map table that is connectable with the object descriptor. The multiplexer multiplexes a transport stream including a corrected program map table, the IPMP descriptor and object descriptor generated by the data generator. The controller controls the transport stream analyzer, data generator and multiplexer.

PURPOSE: A device for converting input data into an MPEG-21 file format is provided to systematically configure a DID(Digital Item Declaration) and related other DID and a media resource in an MPEG-21 file format, thereby satisfying the requirements of a random access/MPEG system within a file. CONSTITUTION: Data inputted outside is converted into an MPEG-21 file format. The MPEG-21 file format includes as follows. A file header is included. A DI(Digital Item) box includes a DID. A media resource is included. A resource box includes URL information or other DI which refers to the media resource. A resource track includes referred XML-type DIDs existing in recursive way within one box. A security box protects a file while supporting integrity.

PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for activating a specific region of MPEG-2 video using MPEG-4 scene descriptor are provided to allow a user to easily access interactive digital broadcasting and increase utilization of additional data. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for activating a specific region of MPEG-2 video using MPEG-4 scene descriptor includes a specific region setting and updating unit(100) for setting a specific region of interactive digital broadcasting MPEG-2 video and updating information about the specific region that varies with time, and a scene descriptor generating and encoding unit(200) for generating a scene descriptor based on the information about the specific region and encoding the scene descriptor. The apparatus further includes a capsulating unit(300) for capsulating the scene descriptor and additional data to be connected to the scene descriptor in MPEG-2 packet, and a multiplexing unit(400) for inserting the capsulated scene descriptor and additional data into the MPEG-2 video data including the specific region.

Disclosed is a program recommendation system and method which receive PSIP/SI and programming information on digital broadcasting and provide a program recommendation service to viewers in an EPG application. The system receives personal information in order to set information of each viewer, confirms the received PSIP/SI information, and generates watching information through a viewer watching TV, in a predetermined format. In addition, the system inputs the generated watching information to a database, converts watching information of each viewer which is stored in the database input unit into divided input patterns using a fuzzy membership function to analyze the input patterns, and extracts information on a program with a high degree of preference from the analyzed result. Furthermore the system outputs preference program information of each viewer on a screen in order to recommend a program.
