    Abstract: A method for preventing crusting in reactors or crystallisers for solutions and suspensions involves exposure to ultrasound vibrations which are fed in from sonotrodes at about the level of the liquid or suspension in the vessel. A method for preventing the formation of a crust in reactors or crystallisers (e.g. production crystallisers) (13) for solutions and suspensions (11) by exposure to ultrasound vibrations from a high-frequency generator (1), which are fed into the system at input points (4) on the walls (6, 21) or base (7) of the container (13) via sonotrodes (3) connected to electromechanical transformers (2). The method involves feeding in the vibrations in a zone (16) around the level (17) of the liquid or suspension in the container. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for preventing crusting as above, in which sonotrodes are fitted in a ring around the crystallizer in a zone (16) between the level (17) of the suspension in the vessel (13) and the zone affected by a cooling medium (9).

    Abstract: In the preparation of carbonyl compounds (I) by gas phase oxidation of methanol or alcohols with gas containing oxygen (O2) in the presence of catalysts containing copper and/or silver and optionally up to 20 ppm volatile phosphorus compound with respect to the alcohol, the catalyst system (III) consists of a catalyst (IIIA) containing Cu and/or Ag and P and a catalyst (IIIB) free from P.
