Abstract: Dyes of the formula:- wherein the anthraquinone nucleus may be substituted and wherein R1 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 5 carbon atoms or together with R2 and N forms a five or six membered ring which may contain further hetero atoms, and R2 is alkyl, cycloalkyl or an aromatic radical which may be substituted, are made by reacting a Pz-dihydroxy-1:2-pyrazinoanthraquinone in an inert organic solvent or diluent in the presence of a tertiary amine or low molecular weight carboxylic acid amide with a halogenating agent, and treating the Pz-chloro-hydroxy-1:2-pyrazinoanthraquinone obtained in the same medium with an amine of the formula HN(R1)R2. The halogenation may also be carried out in the presence of the amine HN(R1)R2. The invention further comprises dyes of the formula:- wherein R is either the radical of a 2-amino-3:4-phthaloylacridone attached via the amino group and which may be substituted by halogen, alkyl or haloalkyl, or the radical of a 1:4-diamino-anthraquinone attached via the 4-amino group and having in the 2-position an acyl group, an oxdiazole or thiadiazole group which may be substituted by alkyl, phenyl, halophenyl, alkylphenyl or anthraquinonyl, or a benzoxazole or benzthiazole group attached through the 2-position which contain halogen atoms, alkyl groups or an anellated phthaloyl residue. p Examples are given. The dyes dye and print fibrous materials of cellulose, polyamides, wool, silk, polyurethanes and polyesters and may be used as pigments. Grey, yellow, orange and red shades are obtained.

Abstract: Linear polyesters and polyamides are dyed in bulk with a yellow dye of the formula where X is hydrogen, nitro, halogen, acyl, acylamino or primary, secondary or tertiary amino in one of the positions 5, 6, 7 or 8, A is arylene, Y is hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, cyano, amino, acylamino, amido sulphonyl, aryl, aryloxy, aralkyl, cycloalkyl or alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or alkoxy containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms and the triazole ring is attached to the benzene ring in the (10, 11), (11, 12) or (12, 13) position. In an example (8) plasticized polyvinyl chloride is dyed with a yellow dye of the formula ALSO:In an example (5) naphthalene-1 : 8-dicarboxylic acid - (21 - phenyl-61-nitrobenzotriazolyl-(51)-imide) is made by condensing 2-phenyl - 5 - amino - 6 - nitrobenzotriazole with naphthalene-1 : 8-dicarboxylic acid.ALSO:The invention comprises yellow dyes of the general formula:- where X is hydrogen, nitro, a primary, secondary or tertiary amino group, acylamino, acyl or halogen in one of the positions 5, 6, 7 or 8, Y is hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, cyano, amino, acylamino, amidosulphone, aryl, aryloxy, aralkyl, cycloalkyl or an alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or alkoxy group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, A is an arylene group and the triazole ring is attached to the benzene ring in one of the positions (10, 11), (11, 12), (12, 13). The dyes are made by condensing at elevated temperature an appropriate naphthalene-1 : 8-dicarboxylic acid or anhydride with a 2-arylbenzo-triazole having two vicinal primary amino groups in the benzo ring, or with a 2-aryl-benzotriazole having in the benzo ring in vicinal position to a primary amino group a nitro group or a halogen atom, converting the latter into a primary amino group and further condensing the product. Dyes of Formula I above where X is acetylamino may be made by acetylation of the corresponding dye where X is amino. Examples are given. The dyes dye and print textile materials, films, sheets and shaped articles of linear polyesters, dye lacquers, varnishes, waxes and paper, spindye cellulose esters and bulk-dye linear polyesters, polyamides and polyvinyl chloride (see Group IV(a)).

The resulting aerogels are transparent and have a low bulk density and low thermal conductivity. The aerogels can be used as packing materials for liquid chromatography, as catalyst carriers, as substrates for enzymes and as adsorbents.
