Abstract: The invention relates to the utilization of a shaped thermoplastic material different from ABS for the production of housings and the semi-finished products thereof for electrical devices containing small transformers, containing, in relation to the sum of the portions of components A, B and C and optionally D, a total of 100 % by weight of a: 1-48 % by weight of a single or multiphase particulate emulsion polymer with a glass transition temperature below O DEG C in at least one phase and a mean particle size of 50-1000 nm, preferably 50-800 nm as component A; b: 1-48 % by weight of at least one amorphous or semi-crystalline polymer as component B; c: 51-98 % by weight of a polycarbonate as component C and d: 0-47 % by weight of usual additives and/or fibrous or particulate filling materials or the mixtures thereof as component D.

Abstract: The invention relates to the use of a thermoplastic moulding material which is different from ABS as a swell-resistant moulding material for producing vehicle body parts and semi-finished products for vehicles, containing the following in relation to the sum of the quantities of components A, B, and C and optionally, D and E, which is 100 wt. % overall: a: 1 to 48 wt. % of at least one single or multiphase particulate emulsion polymer with a glass transition temperature of less than 0 DEG C in at least one phase and an average particle size of 50 to 1000 nm, preferably 50 to 500 nm as component A; b: 1 to 48 wt. % of at least one amorphous or partially crystalline polymer as component B; c: 51 to 98 wt. % polycarbonates as component C; d: 0 to 47 wt. % usual additives and/or fibrous or particulate fillers or their mixtures as component D; and e: 0 to 5 wt. % of at least one low molecular halogen-free acid as component E.

Abstract: The prepn. of deep draw-modified thermoplastics (T) is by mechanical dewatering of a wet elastomer component (A) contg. up to 50 wt.% residual water and mixing dewatered (A) with a thermoplastic polymer (B) in a screw - by adding (A) to a twin-screw extruder with rotating screws. This extruder contains the following sections (in the direction of flow) : (1) feed for adding (A) to the extruder ; (2) at least one crusher for dewatering (A) that contains one or more barriers each with an opening through which at least some of the water passes as a liq. ; (3) at least one section to which molten (B) is added ; (4) one or more sections with mixing, kneading and / or plasticising devices ; (5) at least one degassing section with one or more gas outlets through which the rest of the water is removed as steam ; and (6) an exit zone. Deep draw-modified moulding materials prepd. by this process are also claimed.
