    Abstract: Water-soluble or -dispersible, film-forming graft copolymers obtained by radical polymerization of vinyl esters of 1-24C aliphatic carboxylic acids in presence of polyethers of average mol. wt. (Mn) \-300 are used as (i) coatings for particulate detergents or cleaning agents or (ii) as packaging for detergents, cleaning agents or post-wash treatment agents to give portions of the type used together with the packaging. Water-soluble or -dispersible, film-forming graft copolymers obtained by radical polymerization of vinyl esters of 1-24C aliphatic carboxylic acids in presence of polyethers of average mol. wt. (Mn) \-300 and of formula (I) are used as (i) coatings for particulate detergents or cleaning agents or (ii) as packaging for detergents, cleaning agents or post-wash treatment agents to give portions of the type used together with the packaging. R = H, NH2, 1-24C alkyl, R -C(=O)-, R NH-C(=O)- or a polyalcohol residue; R = as for R but not a polyalcohol residue; R - R = -(CH2)2-4-, -CH2CH(Me)-, -CH2CH(CH2Me)- or -CH2-CHOR -CH-2-; R = 1-24C alkyl; R = H, 1-24C alkyl or R -C(=O)-; A = -C(O)O-, -C(O)-B-C(O)O- or -C(O)-NH-B-NH-C(O)O-; B = -(CH2)t- or arylene, optionally substituted; n = 1-8; s = 0-500; t = 1-12; u and x = 1-5,000; and v, w, y and z = 0-5,000.

    Abstract: The use of polymers (I), obtained by graft polymerization of vinyl esters of aliphatic carboxylic acids onto polyethers (II), as coating agent, binder and/or film-former in pharmaceutical dosage forms is new. Some (I) are new compounds. The use of polymers (I), obtained by polymerization of at least one vinyl ester of a 1-24C aliphatic carboxylic acid in presence of a polyether of formula (II), is claimed as coating agent, binder and/or film-forming auxiliary in pharmaceutical dosage forms. R1 = H, R9, R9C(O)-, R9NHC(O)- or a polyol residue; R8 = H, R9, R9C(O)- or R9NHC(O)-; R2-R7 = (CH2)2, (CH2)3, (CH2)4, CH2CH(Me), CH2CH(Et) or CH2CH(OR10)CH2; R9 = 1-24C alkyl; R10 = H, R9 or R9C(O)-; A = C(O)O, C(O)-B-C(O)O or C(O)NH-B-C(O)O; B = (CH2)t or arylene (optionally substituted); n = 1-8; s = 0-500; t = 1-12; u, x = 1-5000; v, w, y, z = 0-5000.     Abstract: The use of polymerizates obtained by the polymerization of aliphatic carboxylic acid vinyl ester(s) in the presence of polyethers followed by saponification as pharmaceutical coating agents, binders and/or film-formers is new. R -(O-(R -O)x-(R -O)y-(R -O)z-R )n (I) R = H; 1-24C alkyl; R -CO-; or a polyalcohol group; R -R = -(CH2)2-; -(CH2)3-; -(CH2)4-; -CH2-CH(CH3)-; -CH2-CH(CH2CH3)-; or -CH2-CHOR -CH2-; R and R = H; 1-24C alkyl; or R -CO-; R = 1-24C alkyl; n = 1-8; x = 1-5000; y and z = 0-5000. An Independent claim is also included for the use of polymerizates obtainable by carrying out the polymerization in the presence of an additional monomer comprising a 1-24C alkyl or hydroxyalkyl ester of a 3-8C monoethylenic carboxylic acid, a 1-24C alkyl vinyl ether, a N-vinyllactam or a 3-8C monoethylenic carboxylic acid.
