PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel ethylene terpolymer wax, a manufacturing method thereof, and a floor-protecting composition using the above ethylene terpolymer wax. SOLUTION: The ethylene terpolymer wax comprises 40-95 mass% repeating units derived from ethylene, 0.1-40 mass% repeating units which has at least one ethylenic carbon-carbon double bond and is derived from at least one kind of a 4-10C dicarboxylic anhydride, and 0.1-40 mass% repeating units derived from at least one kind of an ester expressed by formula I [wherein, R 1 is selected from hydrogen, 1-10C alkyl, 3-12C cycloalkyl and 6-14C aryl; and R 2 is selected from 1-10C alkyl, 3-12C cycloalkyl and 6-14C aryl], and has a molecular weight Mw of 20,000 g/mol or less. Abstract:
A new emulsified wax containing an ethylene/crotonic acid polymerizate forms an excellent component of metallic paints. They are prepared by radical copolymerization of ethylene and crotonic acid in a high pressure autoclave at 160-320 deg C under a pressure of 1000 to 3500 bar in the presence of a regulator such as aliphatic aldehydes or ketones. Independent claims are included for: (1) A process for preparation of aqueous emulsions by emulsification of the wax as above; (2) a floor and carpet cleaning agent containing the aqueous emulsion; (3) a metallic paint containing the wax; (4) a surface coated with the metallic paint; and (5) a process for preparation of metallic paints by mixing of the waxes with hydrocarbons and solvents.

The invention relates to acrylate polymers comprising a K-value ranging from 10 to 60, which can be obtained by the radical polymerization of: 30 to 99 wt. % of tert-butyl acrylate and/or tert-butyl methacrylate designated as monomer A; 1 to 28 wt. % of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid designated as monomer B, and; 0 to 60 wt. % of a radically copolymerizable monomer or of a radically copolymerizable monomer mixture designated as monomer C, whereby at least one of monomers C yields a homopolymer with a glass-transition temperature lower than 30° C., with the provision that the wt. %'s total 100. The radical polymerization is carried out in the presence of alkane thiols with a C chain length of C 14 to C 22.
