    Abstract: The invention relates to a method of avoiding corrosion in the separation of methylamine from a product stream ( 10 ) which is obtained in the preparation of methylamines by gas-phase reaction of methanol and ammonia and includes monomethylamine, dimethylamine, trimethylamine, ammonia and methanol as components, where ammonia is separated off by pure distillation in a first column ( 1 ), the remaining components of the product stream obtained as bottoms ( 12 ) are fed to a second column ( 2 ). Trimethylamine ( 14 ) is separated off in the second column ( 2 ) by extractive distillation with introduction of water. The further components of the product stream obtained as bottoms ( 15 ) from the second column ( 2 ) are fed to a third column ( 3 ), in which monomethylamine and dimethylamine are separated off at the top. The monomethylamine and dimethylamine are separated by distillation in a fourth column ( 4 ). To avoid corrosion alkali metal hydroxide is added to the second or third column ( 3 ).

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing chlorocarboxylic acid chlorides of formula (I), wherein R and R , independently from one another, mean a hydrogen atom, an organic radical containing carbon, a halogen, a nitro or cyano group and Y means an alkylene chain having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in the chain which is unsubstituted or is substituted by organic radicals that contain carbon, by halogen, nitro and/or cyano groups, whereby the alkylene chain can be interrupted by an ether-, thioether-, tertiary amino- or keto group, whereby the organic radicals of Y and/or R and/or R can be connected to one another and thereby form a non-aromatic system, whereby said radicals contain carbon, by converting a lactone of formula (II), wherein R , R and Y have the aforementioned meanings, using a hydrogen chloride and phosgene in the presence of a catalyst. Hydrogen chloride is added before and/or while phosgene is added. The hydrogen chloride is only introduced at a temperature of at least 60 DEG C. A pyridine compound is used as the catalyst.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing tetra-substituted ureas by reacting the corresponding amines with phosgene in the presence of an aqueou s inorganic base at a temperature ranging of from 0 to 150 ~C. According to th e inventive method, the corresponding amine, the phosgene and the aqueous inorganic base are on average continuously fed to the reactor, a two-phase system is formed in the reactor by selecting the tetra-substituted ureas to be produced, by selecting the quantitative ratio of the substances and substanc e mixtures to be added, by selecting the temperature during reaction and optionally by adding an organic solvent that is not completely miscible with water, and the reaction mixture is discharged from the reactor in an on average continuous manner.
