    Abstract: 1426661 Chlorothio-N-phthalimide BAYER AG 13 June 1974 [14 June 1973] 26223/74 Heading C2C The invention comprises chlorothio-N-phthalimide, which may be prepared by reacting N,N 1 -dithio-bis-phthalimide with chlorine or a chlorinating agent at a temperature of from 20‹ to 100‹ C. N-[2-formylpropylthio-(2)]-phthalimide may be prepared by reacting chlorothio- N-phthalimide with isobutyraldehyde in the presence of an acid binding agent. Alternatively phthalimide may be converted to N,N 1 -dithiobis-phthalimide by reaction with S 2 Cl 2 , followed by chlorolysis at from 20‹ to 100‹ C. to give chlorothio-N-phthalimide, and reaction with isobutyraldehyde in the presence of an acid binding agent to give N-[2-formylpropylthio- (2)]-phthalimide, the reactions being carried out in the same vessel and without the isolation of the intermediates.

    Abstract: 1312869 Bis-phenols BAYER AG 19 April 1971 [14 March 1970] 22335/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] Novel compounds of the formula (wherein R is C 1-18 alkyl, C 5-6 cycloalkyl which may be C 1-6 alkyl-substituted, or C 7-9 aralkyl) are prepared by reacting α,α 1 -dihydroxy-1,4- diisopropylbenzene with appropriate 2 - R- 4-methyphenols in the presence of acid dehydration catalysts. The preparation of the compounds of the formulµ is also described. The first of these may subsequently be converted to the novel compounds by insertion of the group R using suitable olefines or carbinols. All the above compounds have use as stabilizers for polyurethanes (see Division C3).
