    Abstract: There are disclosed and claimed novel mixtures of thermoplastic polyamides, namely mixtures of at least one polyamide derived from 1,3-bis-aminomethyl-cyclohexane, which optionally is partly replaced by 1,4-bis-aminomethyl-cyclohexane and optionally at least one aliphatic diamine, at least one aromatic dicarboxylic acid and optionally at least one aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, and optionally at least one aminocarboxylic acid, with at least one polyamide each of the polyamide 6 and/or polyamide 6,6 types. The mixtures of the invention combine good mechanical with good flow properties.

    Abstract: 1,210,054. Injection mouldable polyesters. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 11 March, 1969 [23 March, 1968], No. 12713/69. Heading C3R. Thermoplastic moulding compositions consist of a nucleating agent having a particle size of below 2 microns and a polyester containing the residues of (a) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and optionally a small amount of an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, (b) a saturated aliphatic or cycloaliphatic diol, and (c) an alcohol having more than two primary hydroxy groups in an amount in the range 0.01% to 2% by weight, calculated as the free alcohol with reference to the weight of polyester. The preferred polyester is modified polyethylene terephthalate or poly-( 1 ,4-cyclohexyl-dimethylene)- terephthalate. Specified are polyols: 1,1,1- tris - hydroxymethyl ethane, 1,1,1 - tris - hydroxymethyl propane, pentaerythritol, dipentaerythritol, 1,1,1,6,6,6 - hexakis - hydroxymethyl - hexane, 1,1,3,3 - tetrakis - hydroxymethyl - cyclopentane and 1,2,4 - tris - hydroxymethyl benzene; nucleating agents: kaolin, talc, alkaline earth metal carbonates, aluminium silicate or a copolymer of ethylene and acrylic acid. The composition may also contain (i) up to 20% by wt. of a copolymer of ethylene and an acrylic acid ester or of butadiene and styrene, and (ii) a wax, e.g. paraffin wax or polyethylene wax.

    Abstract: 1,248,125. Modified polyester. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 19 March, 1969 [23 March, 1968], No. 14372/69. Heading C3R. A new polyester contains (a) residues of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and optionally up to 5 mole per cent of aliphatic dicarboxylic acids, (b) residues of a saturated aliphatic or cycloaliphatic diol, and (c) from 0À01 to 2% by weight, calculated on the weight of the polycondensation mixture, of residues of a polyhydric alcohol having more than two hydroxymethyl groups bound to a cyclohexane ring or tetrahydropyran ring. Specified polyhydric alcohols are 1,1,3,3- tetrakis - hydroxymethyl - cyclohexane, 2,2,6,6- tetrakis - hydroxymethyl - cyclohexanol - 1, tetrahydro - 3,3,5,5 - tetrakis - hydroxymethylpyran, and tetrahydro-3,3,5,5-tetrakis-hydroxymethyl-4-hydroxypyran. The polyester is preferably a modified polyethylene terephthalate or poly-(1,4-cyclohexyl dimethylene) terephthalate. The polyester may be used as a base for a thermoplastic moulding composition containing also (1) up to 20% by weight of copolymers of ethylene and acrylic acid esters or butadiene and styrene, (ii) a nucleating agent such as kaolin, talc, alkaline earth metal carbonates, aluminium silicate or a sodium salt of a copolymer of ethylene and acrylic acid, and (ii) a wax, e.g. paraffin wax or polyethylene wax.

    Abstract: 1383759 Transparent polyamides HOECHST AG 8 Dec 1971 [10 Dec 1970] 57068/71 Heading C3R Transparent polyamides are derived from a bis (aminomethyl) tricyclo-decane and a C 5-20 saturated aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and/or a C 7-20 aromatic dicarboxylic acid. Optional further comonomers are aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic diamines of up to 20 carbon atoms providing not more than 50 mol. per cent of total diamine and aminoacids of up to 20 carbon atoms providing not more than 50 wt. per cent of the polyamide. Various such monomers are specified. The essential diamine may be prepared as described in Specification 1,191,839. The polymers may be injection moulded.
