Abstract: In this lift system, a lift car (2) is arranged such that it can be moved along guide rails (6), and the lift car (2) is equipped with a brake system with preferably two safety brakes (20). The safety device is actuated via control devices (10, 11) which can trigger the safety device on the basis of critical or non-critical events. Furthermore, the control devices contain a function for automatic resetting (A) of the safety brake (20) when an event which is evaluated as non-critical is specified as reason for the triggering of the safety brake. The resetting of the safety brake (20) takes place by carrying out predefined resetting steps (R) of the lift car (2).

Abstract: The elevator car is arranged movably along guideways and in the special operating mode is decelerated to a standstill and kept at a standstill by a braking device, by a braking force brought about by the braking device together with a brakeway. A required deceleration to bring the elevator car to a standstill within a next-possible exit zone in the special operating mode is calculated, furthermore a stopping of the elevator car is detected if a sudden change in the braking force or the acceleration is established and the braking force of the braking device is set to a holding force when the stopping is established. The special operating mode results in the elevator car coming to a stop directly in the region of an exit zone in a special operating mode and passengers in the car being able to leave the elevator car independently.

Abstract: The elevator installation has an elevator car (3) moving in a vertical direction along guide tracks (7, 9) and is braked or held at standstill by a braking equipment. The braking equipment includes two brake units (12), where each of the brake units has a wear-compensating device. Each brake unit has brake plates (14, 15), which co-operate with a brake track (8), when the brake units are actuated. The wear-compensating device sets a clearance between the plates of the brake units and the brake track in correspondence with a constant value, when the brake unit is opened or released. An independent claim is also included for a method of braking and holding an elevator car.
